Never too much china. Ask the woman who has over 40 sets of 1939s and 40s china. I love Crooksville!❤❤ I never knew there was a complete service of that pattern. I just have two serving dishes. That tablecloth and table, which are a marriage made in heaven, look like they came out of a church I used to attend. Perfection!! If you need a support group, I'm sure there are many of us who are right there with you. They just don't make this stuff like they used to. The old stuff feels so good.💖💖

Don’t you feel bad for a minute about your love for collecting old glass and china and your storage challenges. Collect what you love! It’s fun to pick and choose among your treasures. I’ve been in this house for 14 years and my things are not organized to my liking. Life gets in the way and I would rather live my life than worry over how organized I am. Oh, I know that bowl of peeled grapes well. Feels just like eyeballs! Yuck!

Scott I've spent the last few months watching your old videos from the beginning, and I could say lots 😅 about that.... but to address your question about having too much glass, well I have often thought while watching you acquire things that you are quite disciplined about what you buy. That is so admirable! You have a wonderful ability to walk away and leave it on the shelf for someone else to discover. One of my grandmothers always said it was better to have a few nice things than a whole lot of junk. From what I can see, you certainly don't have a whole lot of junk, you have accumulated some very quality items, and you certainly aren't anything close to a hoarder either! I've watched you sell many things you yourself said you wanted to keep, but you sold it anyway, so congratulate yourself on that. At the end of the day only you can truly know when you're feeling weighted down by possessions. If the answer is yes, then at least you won't have any problems selling off and thinning out your fine collections, and feeling satisfied that it made your wallet a little fatter too, lol!

Somewhere on KZbin there's a tour of a magnificent home whose owners are devoted to entertaining on a grand scale. The *wow* feature of the property is the basement, where they've installed banks of open metal shelving to store their collections of china and glass. The blank looks they gave the interviewer when asked if their collections were complete... :) Access! Visual access, that's the answer! If one can see it, one can use it, and count it as an art form involving 3-dimensional expressions of color and form.

I have grandboys, so my autumn dishware is melamine (I know - EEK!) that looks like wood … somehow it works on top of woven reed chargers, on top of a tablecloth and napkins embroidered with maple leaves and acorns (I know that acorns go with oak leaves, of course, but the maker of the embroidery kit 80-plus years ago either didn’t know or didn’t care) by my mother during the 1940s when my father was off fighting in WWII. When the grandboys go home, I add white china salad plates with an autumn pattern in place of the melamine salad plates. And (deliberately) mismatched chunky mugs. Somehow, to me anyway, it all works. Just do what makes your eyes and your heart happy for your autumnal dishware - I promise it’ll look wonderful.

No worries, You don't have to put out the same colors year after year. It's OK to let the sets wait in a bin a few years, while you alternate them. Different is good. Beautiful table and table cover. The dish set will match well. A plain table cover with a design on the dishes. A cute vase with nice artificial fall flowers would look great on the table. Throw in a few small white pumpkin picks to compliment the white on the dishes. Or a white cloth under the vase of flowers.

As soon as I saw that beautiful tablecloth (I love the extended table, I think it actually makes the room seem larger) I thought you should have china in the "closet", rather than glass. That tablecloth was such a find, and in amazingly good condition. And the runner looks great on it. I could see some soft, muted green placemats for dining, tying in with that runner. Anyway, the video was delightful, it was nice to be included in your decision making, and excavation of china and glassware. You possess excellent design instincts.
