So, I'm 40. I don't even care what generation I'm supposed to be from, this is ridiculous. People SHOULD be able to afford to have their nails done. Is not it better for society if people look neat? People SHOULD be able to afford to go to the gym. Isn't it better for society when people are healthy? People SHOULD be able to afford to watch movies and have a subscription. Isn't art making life worth living? Finally, people SHOULD be able to afford housing. Isn't it better for all when there are no homeless people? Age has absolutely nothing to do with it.

@@Hyacinth543 I completely agree, I was just saying that "underage" drinking as illegal is stupid when compared to any similar law. It is an ugly realization, but without alcohol and other elicits, humanity would likely not have made it this far.
@gabrielabatista60162 ай бұрын
Eh, underage drinking is not that weird cause in the US you're a legal adult for 3 years before you can legally drink. Everywhere else in the world just puts the legal drinking age the same as majority age (well, some put legal drinking age below it, but that's a different story). Though, considering how harmful alcohol consumption can be if you drink it regularly, shaming us for not wanting to drink is kinda ridiculous. Like, I'm Gen Z and I don't like alcohol. I don't like the taste, the health side effects are horrible, and being drunk is not my idea of fun; it's more of a horror story element, actually. Being dizzy, loosing fine control of my motor skills, having my mind clouded making hard to make judgements, being in a vulnerable position? Darling, I go through this every time my blood pressure drops drastically and I'd describe it as anything but fun, and at least that usually doesn't cause any nausea and I don't get hangovers from it; plus it doesn't last for too long. I'll pass on the alcohol, I'd rather have some water or a soda, thanks.

It's the same bs I remember seeing all over when millennials were saying they couldn't afford housing. The boomers kept telling them to just stop eating avocado toast. I know a lot of Gen Xers who are so mad to know that Gen Z just... Exist. Because how dare we not live carbon copy lives to them. But also how dare we do anything they did. I've made my parents mad on more than one occasion when they've talked about Gen Zs being "weak" by asking what generation raised us, because we didn't just come out of the womb like that. And if I don't know something... It's because they didn't teach me. I didn't hear of a band that was active 20 years before I was born? Was I just supposed to be born with the knowledge? Or could it have been that you never brought it up around me as a kid. They also seem to forget that a lot of older Gen Zs were raised with similar things. I also didn't have a phone as a kid because they were too expensive, and smart phones didn't exist when I was little. I also watched VHS tapes, and had to do chores. According to my mom, her theory is they just don't like that they're as old as they are. They don't feel old, so seeing the new "young adult" generation doing new things makes them mad. In their heads, it hasn't been that long since they were young adults, so they don't understand how things could have changed so much. The issue can't be that they're older, it must be that Gen Z just doesn't know what we're doing.

One thing I learned in my journalism class years ago, a lot of the generation beef comes from upper middle class parents and their kids. And it’s nothing new. Its been going on since printed fiction has been published in books. And probably even before that.

The fact of the matter is, this thing between generations has always been there. The boomers were complaining about layzy gen X, the silent generation complained about the layzey and good for nothing boomers. So did all generations before them complained about the generation after them. This is nothing new! The onley thing new about this is that its on social media now.

@@Garbeaux.Maturing is realizing people can do whatever they want with their bodies as longs as they aren’t hurting other people. @Rodrigo-wc5kb2 ай бұрын
@Garbeaux. well magical thinking always existed existed in prior generations only in different forms, just look at people that believe in Zodiac signs/astrology for example. as for the identifying thing, we were kinda the test drive generation of growing up exposed to internet at a very young age and when you're exposed enough to certain things some people are going to start to believe it, just like in the 80s a LOT of "mature" asults started believing that young people that played d&d were actually satanic cults while that (at the time) Younger generation was only playing pretend(just browse satanic panic on google), and also that's not a great argument since a BIG portion of those that believe that you can be anything just by identifying as that, are also baby bommers and millenials, of course not excluding the involvement of a lot of gen Z folks in that (even though what you did in your comment was pretend that it was exclusively problems from Gen Z, when common everyone knows that baby bommers and millenials are also VERY much involved) everyone has a different definition of maturity, some think on super serious person 24/7, others on someone funny but serious when necessary, but in my book blaming problems on the younger generation doesn't fit my definition

I'm gen-x and I honestly feel bad for the younger generations. Prices are so damn high on everything that it makes it harder to just get by. If gen z wants to go out and do things that bring them joy then go for it. Each generation has had tough times and no generation is better than another. Good natured banter is fun but intergenerational shitting on each other is stupid. Ffs, can't we just support each other no matter what generation we happen to have been born in? I'm starting to think that it's all for social media views. Rage bait videos seem to be too effing trendy. Love your videos, I always laugh.

Streaming service prices are going up constantly. Don’t even let me get started on nail techs that think their at home nail service is worth a car payment. As for bachelorette parties, I’ve never been to one in my 40 years of life, last I knew only rich stuck up snobs do the bachelorette/bachelor parties these days, most just do a wedding shower combined party to save money.

Equally, I hate it when someone from genX says that they speak for all of us...no you don't. If I see bad behaviour from someone, I absolutely don't think that it's indicative of everyone from that generation. We're all individuals, with our own likes, dislikes, opinions, behaviours, and idiosyncrasies. And, no one should EVER be called out for seeing a therapist for the sake of their mental health.

I'm pretty sure that is a Millennial thing. Boutique gyms are where people work out in small groups in a gym setting. a lot of the hate (at least coming from gen z) actually is against the parents of gen alpha (millennials) for teaching them to be rude and ipad-dependent.
@nicrob1442 ай бұрын
The hate comes from every generation. Always has and unfortunately always will. Each generation makes fun of the next for being different. Which has never made sense to me because of course each generation will be different. Society changes and younger generations don't want to be like the older ones. It's illogical to berate younger people for liking different things than they did or for wanting to change the way society thinks. But I guarantee Gen Z will do it when they get older. Then Gen Alpha will. And so on and so on.
@nicrob1442 ай бұрын
Also, Gen Z got a lot of hate for being unruly and glued to electronics. Millennials got hate for playing video games and disrespecting their elders. I mean...the boomers were in their teens and 20's during the 70's. When peace and love were the big rebellion. (If I did my math right) Way back when, society thought reading books and newspapers would rot peoples brains. In reality, people just judge younger people for doing things differently than they did.

I’m a millennial. I can’t afford a house cause banks have arbitrarily decided that I can pay nearly $900/month in rent alone but without a down payment that I can’t save up for, I can’t spend 50%-75% of that a month on a mortgage. Houses being an investment and/or income property has completely ruined the ability for people to buy a home.
