Well one time i was listening to a yt video and fell asleep. Yt used to let the screen go dark if there was no interaction (video not playing and you not touching the screen) bit for some reason it didn't. So over the course of the 11 or so hours i was asleep, my phone developed a light burn line where the player ends and the white description box section is, or at least made it enough that i could see it after. It's not super noticable since i'd have to be looking at a full white screen and scrolling to normally see it, but if i kept letting it happen it would continue to burn into the screen and become more noticable. Apparently there's tech to try to alleviate this issue because it's always been a problem. Supposedly modern phones will shift the icons for your battery, wifi, ect just a few pixels every once and a while to protect the screen (says wikipedia), and there's supposedly software that'll try to reverse burn colors for things like menus if you are on it perpetually. According to google, it may only take a few weeks of use with static images, and it's recommended to have static images no longer than 2 hours at a time. Also some screens try to "repair" themselves somehow when they are not displaying anything by trying to keep the degredation of the pixels at similar levels

You just need to strike the balance between pruning and letting it have enough to want to fruit, maybe manually pollinate it. As you can see, we definitely don’t have enough of it going around like we should given how much information is readily available at our fingertips at no cost (outside of basic internet usage costs, of course), yet people still willingly choose to remain ignorant. Yes, you can easily just Google something now and get an answer/definition given to you in an instant, but never stop actually learning what the solutions and meanings are - retain that info and always try to find ways to use them in your everyday life. Don’t ever be afraid to ask someone for help to learn something, either. My generation (millennials) ruined younger generations when we had children. We always whined and complained about our parents screwing things up, yet my generation right along with Gen-X (yea, any of you old farts taking offense to this are included in the general “we”, too) had children, did the opposite, and have now created a new generation for us to whine about just like our parents did while pretending we had nothing to do with it. We screwed up by going just as extreme as the generation prior to us, just in the other direction … and now this is our end result. Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha can either hopefully course correct the nonsense once they get older and have their own children, or continue the madness even further … and if the latter, I am genuinely concerned how that will be with the generations that follow lol.

Any parent who *prevents* their children from doing household chores which should be reasonably safe e.g. laundry, washing up, vacuuming (Excluding reasonably dangerous stuff involving toxic agents e.g. drain unblockers) needs to ask themselves questions about their ability to be a parent, and probably wants to seek advice from their local child services team on the side. tl,dr; If you're cotton-wooling your kids so much they're not even allowed to make a mug of coffee by themselves, you're doing them more harm in adulthood than you could ever realise. It goes the other way too, ask trad artists who recently started using tablets how often they've used the wrong pen/stylus with the wrong medium, or tried to use an eraser on the screen/tablet or forgotten they can't just flip the tablet to rotate the drawing around to draw something upside-down. Forgetting which medium you work on is honestly a constant source of hilarity when you know how to laugh at yourself. (also gets just as funny with writers old enough to have typewriters, I've seen some try to push their keyboard to do a full return/enter or try to nudge it to the right instead of tab indenting. Or try to make an overlap character happen in their word processor. My dad half-expected the spelling underlines to appear on his typewriter pages once he got used to Word and he was a boomer and not exactly a dumb guy; it's literally just habit.

i'm scared some parents are teaching their kids the wrong things. like us adults we know how everything in the world works and we understand why a drawing robot is ridiculous but a toddler doesn't. if your kids only like coloring and not drawing that's fair but why didn't the parent just buy a coloring book for $2? why did it have to be a $130 robot? will those kids have a moment where they see another kid drawing and they're like "what are you doing?" and the other kids like "uhh drawing" and they go "why are you using your hands? why don't you just use your drawing robot?" and the other kids like "wtf are you talking about" and they're like "doesn't everyone use a drawing robot?"
@jmarshal22 күн бұрын
A lot of parents don’t teach their kids anything. And as machines came out that could do those things, it became less easy to just absorb certain skills. That’s why there was an uptick of “why can’t women cook these days” towards Millenials, because their parents weren’t teaching them how and it was no longer a necessary skills. And it just circles the drain until kids can’t do something simple like hand wash dishes or hang out laundry. There is so much we need to teach kids, but if the adult never learnt it, they have nothing to teach.
@LRM12o822 күн бұрын
The craziest thing is this drawing robot is just gonna be a drawing book with extra steps. I mean, I don't know if you can input your own picture cards and it will draw those too, rather than just the included picture cards*, but I know the kind of parents who buy this are definitely not going to make their own picture cards for the bot. *I absolutely wouldn't put it past them to just be using a color sensor to detect the card and draw it following a preset routine, rather than using a camera and sufficiently powerful processor to do full image detection and draw any image with clear enough lines that you put in it. I mean maybe it is a bad idea that someone put way too much money and thought into (aka the latter case), but it looks an awful lot like a grift to me that's made with as cheap a components as possible and little effort as necessary to just make it work for a few demo pieces! 😂

This isn't a new problem. I was raised by Boomer parents who clearly didn't receive any good advice on parenting, but *did* receive advice from their priest about forcing their faith into me so damned hard I would never be able to banish it in adulthood when discovering where my own faith lay. ✝⛓😨 To say that my „life“ is a fate worse than death is putting it somewhat lightly... 😢

They will absolutely not ask a kid why they're drawing because kids can learn things through TV and Internet videos, and besides that they have probably drawn before themselves. I grew up out in the country with almost no contact with other people and I still knew how people worked and behaved because I had access to TV and, later in life, the internet. Do you really think kids who probably go to public school and have friends and contact with the outside world are going to think every kid has a drawing robot and not know human art is a thing that exists? Meanwhile a kid who grows up isolated in the country can know so much about other people, be so detached from everyone else, and still manage to grow up with A DIFFERENT ACCENT to their parents due to how much they were exposed to other people's ideas and lives. It just doesn't add up. It would take some insane levels of isolation to get a kid to think only robots draw.
@cosmicsam11722 күн бұрын
The robot drawing thing broke my heart imma be real honest. And this is why: 1) When kids draw it really brings out their imagination. And it also improves their motor skills and stuff like that. So it’s really good for them to do it ON THEIR OWN, WITH THEIR OWN HANDS. 2) The robot kinda reminds me of a coloring book, it draws the thing for you and then the kids color it. Um. JUST BUY A COLORING BOOK? 😭 If you want drawings to already be there for your children to color, buy a coloring book. I used to have tons of coloring books from the dollar store when I was little 😭 Anyways yeah. It’s just upsetting to me that the kids aren’t using their own creativity to try to draw themselves. ☹️

6:29 I swear I thought she meant if you wash the fruit before eating it or something. 😭😭😭 Here in Mexico you have to wash the fruit before eating it because normally the water with which it was watered is not clean, I didn't think about she meant that lemons from a tree couldn't be eaten ☠️
@Larsen_illustrations22 күн бұрын
I assume she meant something else like processing it to be consumed by humans, some fruits are like that
@water600621 күн бұрын
@@Larsen_illustrationsyeah, I think this is what she meant. Side note: still make sure to wash them, I can tell you from first hand experience that food borne illness is not very fun.
@giboi0321 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think she was definitely more concerned about unprocessed/unsanitized harvests. We're all technically buying lemons picked from trees, but we buy them in groceries after they've been washed and sanitized and checked. Not to mention specifically-bred species AND select farms trusted by the FDA and more organizations of the same ilk. If she didn't know who planted the tree and when it was last picked and what's in the soil the tree is rooted in, she'd be gambling her chances on those lemons.

I mean slavery was still around until the 1960s. "Historian and genealogist Antoinette Harrell has uncovered cases of African Americans still living as slaves 100 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. The 57-year-old Louisiana native has dedicated more than 20 years to peonage research." From Antionette Harrell's interview on VICE: "One day a woman familiar with my work approached me and said, “Antoinette, I know a group of people who didn’t receive their freedom until the 1950s.” She had me over to her house where I met about 20 people, all who had worked on the Waterford Plantation in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. They told me they had worked the fields for most of their lives. One way or another, they had become indebted to the plantation’s owner and were not allowed to leave the property. This situation had them living their lives as 20th-century slaves. At the end of the harvest, when they tried to settle up with the owner, they were always told they didn’t make it into the black and to try again next year. Every passing year, the workers fell deeper and deeper in debt. Some of those folks were tied to that land into the 1960s. [...] Six months after that meeting, I was giving a lecture on genealogy and reparations in Amite, Louisiana, when I met Mae Louise Walls Miller. Mae walked in after the lecture was over, demanding to speak with me. She walked up, looked me in the eye, and stated, “I didn’t get my freedom until 1963.” Mae’s father, Cain Wall, lost his land by signing a contract he couldn’t read that had sealed his entire family’s fate. As a young girl, Mae didn’t know that her family’s situation was different from anyone else’s. The family didn’t have TV, so Mae just assumed everyone lived the same way her brothers and sisters did. They were not permitted to leave the land and were subject to regular beatings from the land owners. When Mae got a bit older, she would be told to come up to work in the main house with her mother." So yeah... Kid might have been better educated than you about it.

On the "picking up and putting down tutorial" - that was actually someone my mother made my brother and I do for schoolwork! We had to write out every step and afterwards my mother would test it. I did one on how to get a can of beans out of the cupboard and put it on the counter (with part two of how to actually prepare the beans coming soon, aka never). I was so proud of myself because she said I was so specific there was absolutely no way to fuck it up. I was seven at the time and I somehow knew better than adults nowadays. We should bring that into the curriculum apparently. I feel like a genius.

Internet slang getting in your IRL life has been there since the early 2000s and at least since the advent of texting. Ask any millenial about the "IDK my BFF Jill" ad. I'm an early millenial and most of this is just dumb as bricks people, I've known boomers who were that dumb and said the exact same things. (the amount of stupid fruits-come-from-fruit-trees???? surprise I found from chronic city-people and the amounts of people arguing that beef doesn't come from cows, beef comes from beef... UGH. The internet isn't making people stupider, they were already morons beforehand, it's just that now you can see them being morons more easily.)

Don't worry, it also hasn't been getting worse: everything you've seen there has been around in one form or the other since boomer times. I've caught people use typewriter gestures on their spiral notebooks in boomerland, and boomers who were equally incapable of knowing how money and laundry works at laundromats (or who only knew laundromats and were incapable of using a washing machine correctly), and don't get me started about the amounts of dumb food produce questions like "what tree do strawberries grow on" or "what does living beef look like?" followed with "YOU'RE LYING BEEF ISN'T MADE FROM COW". Or even worse, claiming pork is made from sheep. Or believing lime is just unripe lemons. If you want to reassure yourself that we've been morons since a LONG TIME, type "best of Yahoo Answers" and remember that each and every one of those idiots is at least a millenial if not a boomer. Our species is stupid as heck and it only survives because there's enough bright ones around to offset how stupid we are as a whole.
