I miss those days when we had wonderful airplanes everywhere and the loud ones on take-off. I certainly admire every airplane shown here. Thank you for sharing!!
@spaz8461 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it’s a shame that all the older models of aircraft have been almost completely phased out. But hey, as air travel evolves, soon the a320s and 737s that are around will also become quite dated, aged like fine wine lol

That's right. The YS11, F-4EJ, etc., which were common and boring until a few years ago, are now legendary.
@daniels.920611 ай бұрын
@@APW_Manbow I remember Airborne Express flying the YS11. Even with ear defenders on, they were screechers. I use to load the Buffalo Airways [Burlington Air Express] B707. I walked around it each night as if it was brand new. Those were some good planes back then. Although I wouldn't mind hanging out under a new 787.
@APW_Manbow11 ай бұрын
@@daniels.9206 At that time, YS11 and F-27 were active in Japan. There were also early 727s and DC8s, but all of them produced a good and delicious sound.

It was like the Thunderbird era. All these futuristic machines that were ahead of their time. Now we got small cramped aircraft that makes you feel uncomfortable.

I remember flying on a Tunis Air Boeing 727 from Heathrow to Tunisia in December 1975, a misty late Sunday morning, and a procession of PanAm 707’s taxing around, viewed from the window of the 727, fantastic experience as I was on a school trip and only 15 years old at the time, also on returning I noticed a huge KLM DC8 howling away near the Queen’s Buildings, I believe the KLM DC8 was a regular visitor at the time. It was very impressive

These old silver birds certainly brought me some childhood memories. These were the planes that graced the skies when I was just a little kid. The extremely deafening roar of those BAC 1-11s, VC10s, and Concordes taking off is something I'll never forget. So for those of you that are still complaining about airplane noise, I have a suggestion: Let's bring the 727s, the BAC 1-11s, the Concordes, the DC-8s, the Hawker Siddeley Tridents, the Sud Caravelles,........... out of retirement and put them back into operational service again. You just don't know how lucky you are.

Wonderful videos bringing back memories when i was a boy plane spotting from the queens building at heathrow and at gatwick airports. I was with my friends coming back from a small aerodrome near Woking called Fairoaks when we saw the engine from BOAC 707 Whisky Echo fall from the plane and land in Marco's gravel pit near Chertsey. Also when i was an apprentice in Staines middlesex seeing the aftermath of the BEA Trident crash and how close it came to being a catastrophic disaster had it come down in the town.

Brings back memories of catching the Sudan airways 707’s to boarding school Rome-London Heathrow. They had two of them at the time. One was called “Blue Nile” and the other one (you guessed it), White Nile. They seamed to be almost brand new back then in 1974.

Takes me back. My first flight Eastern Airlines 727 Whisperjet Toronto to Fort Lauderdale via Philli. Lots of 727 flights, then a DC-10, 737 -7,8, A319, lots of Bombardier Q400. Alway regret not being able to fly on the 747. Lived adjacent to a major flight path in Toronto and remember watching and dreaming about flying.

Thank you @Jenairaslebol27merde. The Comet sound is accurate. There is a Comet at Bruntingthorpe in the UK that is occasionally taxiied and the sound came from that. The airport is Berlin-Tegel.

@williamlaxton7126 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it was rough. I remember my days as a cabin cleaner at Heathrow working on this particular Sudan airways 707. The captain laid his prayer Matt outside the cockpit when he came on board. A sick passenger was on this plane when we came on board once. They had removed three rows of seats and placed a rather dirty old mattress for him to lay on. Cockroaches were everywhere on this plane , not just in the galley. I maybe wrong but I think it crashed on a cargo flight somewhere in Africa. The 707 was replaced with a 737 for a short while and that plane was also lacking in hygiene/ and impossible to clean properly on a short turnaround.
