Many thanks! My circuit board was all corroded - your simple solution was perfect. Somewhere, I have an adjustable power supply and intend to hook that to a rechargeable Lithium 18650 soon.

ATTENTION ETX OWNERS: Most of the failures are due to the hardening of the grease (Black) of the bronze worm of both axes. The green grease from the gear case also weakens the black plastic and makes it brittle. NEVER USE AN EXTERNAL SOURCE WITHOUT A VOLTAGE REGULATOR. Unregulated sources, when disconnected, increase their voltage to 18 volts and when connected, they burn something inside: Also AVOID PLUGGING IN OR UNPLUGGING THE AUTOSTAR CONTROLLER, because the connector can cause the power to come on before the ground. Thus, the return of current is done through the drivers, which burns them. I hope this serves someone.

@Kane Able Disassemble, clean and relubricate the worm screw and crown. There is a lot of information on the web. I searched www.weasner.com/etx/faq.html

I've got an ETX 125 and the focus knob stopped working. Any suggestions on how to separate the lense tube from the plastic case the covers the back end?

Thanks for the video. Did your model have the motor and the metal gearbox, with the circuit board to the side? Wondering if I need to disassemble the drive to repack the gearbox with grease?

I tried to use my ETX 90 the other night for the so called "Christmas Star" but couldn't because of the gears being frozen. I need to pull it apart like you were saying! How did it work out for you?

@@bpluemer185 My gears work fine, but I haven't had a chance to play with the rewiring.
