Great little square stern canoe motor. Worth more in the spring than in the fall.

We had a small outboard similar to this when I was a youth (many years ago). You might remind the folks that when they pull the cord, that they should make sure that no one is behind them, I was hit by the flying end of the cord more than once. Tony

Love when you do boat motor videos! I have a few motors like that where you have to spin the motor to get reverse. They advertised them as not having to shift to go into reverse. Lol.

Neat little engine...hard to believe that was the start of some great motors (my own 90 HP 2 cycle Yamaha included)!! Thanks, Dony.

Great engine - nice design features, including the simple starting arrangement, I think :)

i’m currently fixing one of these up but i’m not sure the water pump for cooling is working. is the outlet for the cooling water down below the water line as well

Man, just look at the water in that drum. That little thing is a helluva polluter! For that reason alone, leave it for a museum.

Aside from normal wear and tear, she looks pretty clean.

Wow, sure sounds like it runs nice over the full throttle range, though that was an awful lot of blue smoke coming out of the barrel. I saw you fiddle with the gas cap, issues with venting or something?

I have the exact same outboard! I got it from a friend of mine a couple of years ago. It runs really nice, but it won't cool. I checked the impeller and I made sure all the water passages were clean, but it still didn't pump any water! I don't know what the problem is, so if you have any ideas, please let me know. I've got 12 other outboards, so I know how to work on them, but this one is a nightmare... Here in the Netherlands those little outboards go for about 125-150 euros, which is about 160-190 US dollars. By the way, those outboards were made between 1964 and 1972 :)

Marc Vogelzang Yes, I did check that. But thanks for the reply, it's appreciated :)

VintageOutboardMan check the water loop, there might be sand inside of it, or the water impeller.

I have the same outboard with cooling problems. The houseing that the inpleller goes wares. Yamaha sugest to lut the yamaha 2a ware plate in. After i put one in the water frombthe 4 holes came out like a proper jet. Im trying to see if she runs on 50:1 as most rivers wont let you use 25:1 ill see how she goes with that
@VintageOutboardMan2 жыл бұрын
@@garyhollis4364 The P45 is supposed to run on 50:1 and the 2A 100:1. I do believe the P45 can also be run on 100:1, but I like to run them on 50:1. 25:1 is way to much oil for these motors and doesn't have any benefits over the 50:1 ratio.

I was given one to fix. Not sure what to expect when I get inside. But. It'll look like I'll need to get it perfect for a one time pull. Or else rig it to a drill somehow. This starts tomorrow. Wooohooo

Just got one like this at a "flea-shop" here in norway, but I lack the spark plug. Does anyone know the type of plugs it needs?

That's a nice little unit. Love the power of a 2 stroke. A good cleaning and maybe run a buffer on it with rubbing compound (lightly) and a coat of wax, that thing should be at least worth 325.00. W.

I guess having that motor is better than a set of oars but it is as crude as a model T Ford and probably stinks of 2 cycle exhaust. Thanks for showing it, now send it back to the museum!

Two cycle exhaust...you either love it or hate it. I like the smell of a two cycle engine's exhaust.

Hi, I would keep it to stir, soup, pudding, anything else.... Beats the Sunbeam mixer, it don't even need a AC cord to run, for those loving the 2 stroke smell, now, how about the taste.... lol Running that good it's probably worth around 200-300 cdn.

Little outboard motors can be quite hard to find used. Howver lack of a recoil will turn some folks away. For someone looking for a vintage collector motor Yamaha will probably be a negative. For someone looking for a user Yamaha will be a plus. To the right person I would say at least $150. and maybe $200. Good luck to your friend.
@grizzlydan810 жыл бұрын
P. S. For max. $ do as others have suggested; Clean thoroughly, Ask $250. and don't go below $225 unless it hasn't sold by mid may 2015.
