My husband's great grandmother was a Blackfeet native American. There was so much prejudice against the native Americans in the 1920's and 1930's that his great grandmother's name was not allowed on his grandfather's birth certificate. Her name was pencilled in the corner. Her name was Lottie. That is all we know about her name. Don't know who her parents were. Very sad. We have a wonderful 10×8 black and white photo of her from around the 1940's. She looked like a precious woman. Very hard working. Thank you for this video.

I love your story about your family, it makes me sad how even in 2024 how prejudice still exists amongst anyone who doesn’t look the same as you, doesn’t have the same beliefs, religion etc. , I only hope some day in my life time more people will see the value in those differences❤

My mom who was born in 1921 was engaged to a a man who was a descendent of Swedish immigrants from Minnesota. This was during wwll. She told me he hated native Americans with every fiber of his body. After he deployed to Europe she never heard from him again, thank heavens. My father who she later married, who was Ukrainian American, was a far more tolerant man since he didn’t speak English when he started school and experienced prejudice too, not the least of which was our extended family back in Ukraine who were murdered by Joseph Stalin to the tune of six million souls. My mom’s best friend was an Indian from one of the Iroquois confederation tribes. So hating Indians was never a thing in our home. I played with the Indian lady’s native kids every day after school. I never thought of 5hem as Indians. They were just my pals.

I'm Brazilian, and I've been researching North American tribes for many years. When I first read the story of Wounded Knee Creeck I would never have imagined that I would one day see a video about the ghost dance. I thought only the Paiutes danced it under the influence of Vovoca (The Paiute Messiah), but I saw the Sioux and I couldn't contain my emotion. I have no words to thank the creators of the video. Only the music doesn't seem right.

Me too. I've always felt my Cherokee roots, but when I got older, I got our families role numbers. No one believed I was Cherokee, because I got the lighter skin. They believe it now. Lol. I've always felt our ancestors spirits, going to ancient sites, I get overwhelmed with emotion, especially if the ruins are destroyed or vandalized. I believe Native People would still live in those beautiful, fertile canyons, if people would not have ran them out. My family walked "The Trail of Tears". Natives were treated so horribly. Still are, in some places. I'm proud of my families Native heritage.

It’s great historically that these tribes and there dances have been captured on celluloid for us all to c but it’s still sort of sad that it was only being done for the cameras , for us to look upon , and that in reality that life , them dances were actually over and a thing of the past as far as these tribes and there nomadic existence was concerned

The music is VERY distracting. I understand that many of these are silent and you're trying to sell something but it really takes away from the marvelous video putting music in that you know is not being played in what we are watching. I'd rather have it silent than hear false music that doesn't match what's being played even it is native music. Also, the 1977 clips surely had sound? How ancient you trying to make me feel? I'm old but not that old. Jeepers. I would have liked to have heard the sound it actually contained. As well as any of the others that weren't silent and the silent should have been left silent.

The music is an enormous mistake, these films deserve more respect. The music is harshly inauthentic and it's mood doesn't match the power of the dancing. I'm curious what kind of viewer you thought would be receptive to it.
