I started to go through this last night on my beloved ol X500. Did you end up making the Rotor tight to the assembly Or leave it as shown? The part on Partzilla or w/e shows (to my eyes) those pins being double sided (2 heads, one male, one female I assume) & it certainly looks tight. I understand Polaris' are absolute boat anchors but I just can't imagine they would make the rear rotor flopping around absurdly like that. Its bad enough having the Shaft mounted Brake nonsense but come on. Thanks in advance = Super helpful either way!

I left the rotor floating, as shown. The OEM bolts are shoulder bolts that I loctited and then tightened down until the shoulder was tight against the plate. I noted in the video that my interpretation of the on line schematic was that the two plates were mated tightly together. As I understand it, the floating disc design allows for adequate brake engagement through the life of the brake pads as they wear down. The brakes work great, assembled as shown. Good luck.

You know the hand brake on the handle bar is the front brakes and the rear brake in on the foot rest

@@buctgrd lol ya think so? That'd be nice & very un-Polarisy. It would be the wrong side of the bars for the Front Brake but I'd take it.

@@makaveli087 so the hand brake works for both? Why did they put a foot brake pedal also?

I looked into replacing mine on my 97. They are obsolete. And 98 don't work without modifications. They were used only for that year. You probably have the same one as I do, because I've seen them available for 98's with the master cylinder behind the foot brake. Mine doesn't have that. I'll be looking for a rebuild kit
