I got into D&D in 1988 and saw this advertised in my first issue of Dragon magazine. I loved the images of it then, but have not seen one in detail like this until now. Thanks for the video!

Always wanted this, but it was so expensive, even by the late 80’s standards. I got a « Skeleton Army » box plus some metals instead. Great video !

I really wanted the Fortress back in the day after seeing it on the back cover of a White Dwarf magazine in the 80's, I never did get the Fortess but great to see it again here. Thanks.

I just received an incomplete set, just the walls and towers with no ladders doors or gates. I am still super happy to have one though, I can easily craft all the missing parts

GW did release a plastic fortress and a new Siege book some years later I believe.

I have one of these! The handle on the box is broken off, but otherwise the thing is in great condition. The siege book is great fun to read through, though the rules are very dense. Lots of fun games

Don't think I'll be getting my hands on one of these bad boys, but I do have a shitload of XPS foam scraps I liberated from the local design schools scraps bin that I can use to make my own fortress.

If you are into historicals, you could get a bag of Victrix vikings and Saxons with 60 figures each and at a very reasonable price and have the vikings attaxck a saxon fortress. Amazing video!

Hi Antonio. To my eternal shame, I have a tub of unbuilt Victrix Vikings, Saxons and Normans in the basement. I would really like to get into Dark Age historicals, but my time management stinks.

Oh my :O didn't know GW had published anything like that before they decided to sell the all-plastic-full-price-set which I happened to lay may hands on a few years back . Yours would be great stuff esp for conversions I guess with all those foam cutting devices available these days... Who produces this gorgeous battlemat? We’d love that too! We just need to figure out how to cover the production costs, since the batreps take a lot of time, but don’t get that many views. Maybe we can put out a tip jar or something.

Seems to be high density styrofoam. Some years later GW sold another fortress made from plastic.

Mr. Oldhammered, I believe for 100% authenticity in your videos you need to replace your cobblestone mat with a nuclear green grass mat that GW used in the 80's/90's

Be gentle, those MFs were notoriously fragile! Not so the master copy though, which was solid metal and is still in the possession of Brian Ansell, who had it on display at his art show last year!

It's fine but it looks a little bland for todays gaming table. Unless you are into retro hammer / herohammer etc. I have Siege 3rd edition and all the rule books for that WHFB 3rd and want a castle like this but done more modern, anyone know of any STLs or companies that sell such castles ? I could do some work on it with some Warhammer The Old World building kits. Also I have the WHFB 5th edition Siege book so this is why I am interested.
