NGL, "Prowler" is one of my favourite Iron Maiden songs and the debut is my favourite album of theirs. I loved Paul's "rough diamond" vocals as well.

Lyrics to that song were apparently written by Dennis Wilcock, although its credited just to Steve Harris. It's about a flasher, not content Bruce Dickinson or even Steve would normally write about. The thing about the debut is that there is actually a lot of input from other ex-Maiden members on many of the songs, although only Steve, Paul Di'anno and Dave Murray get writing credits. Another ex-singer Paul Day says he contributed to Strange World. Rob Angelo a.k.a Bob Sawyer said he had some involvement with writing Sanctuary (a single, on later versions of the debut album). Just a few little tidbits for you.

See him at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, England last year. He was the support act for KK’s Priest. Paul Di’Anno was fantastic.

Cool episode! Hope you're able to make it to the UK one day, Old Head. Also wondering if anyone watching this, who grew up in the UK in the 80s, remembers Phantom Of The Opera being the background song of the old Lucozade advert? The one featuring the athlete Daley Thompson.

Yes, I didn’t know it was Maiden at the time the advert was aired, but when I did get in to the band in 1991, I recognised it from the advert. 🙌🏻

Yes. And I remember Genghis Khan was used on a UK advert for something, I think it was something Castrol product related.

Nice review but how can you be on the fence about Phantom of the opera….It’s a brilliant song.

Very good episode! R.I.P Paul Di Anno... Where can we listen to Eddie's band sage? Do they have bandcamp? Any KZbin videos?
