I'm a Gen Z without a lot of friends. I spend a lot of time alone. I live in a small farm town in Michigan. Yet, somehow when I listen to this, I feel so at home. I don't feel lonely anymore. I feel like I'm in Paris on a summer evening. I feel a warmth in my soul and longing with every ounce of my being like I've never felt before. I feel like I've been here in another life, and I don't know how to explain this, but I miss it so much even though I've never had it. It feels like hiraeth. It's a Welsh word that means "longing or nostalgia, an earnest longing or desire, or a sense of regret. The feeling of longing for a home that no longer exists or never was. A deep and irrational bond felt with a time, era, place or person." edit: two years ago i was in the worst mental state of my life. i was severely depressed and suicidal. listening to this kind of music was the only thing that brought me any sort of comfort. i’m happy to report that i’m doing so much better now. i have a supportive friend group, the mental health resources i so desperately needed, and i finally feel some sort of joy again. i appreciate so much all the responses to my comment. they are most of the reason i kept going. so thank you all. i will probably never meet any of you, but know that you all saved my life and for that i am eternally grateful. i am so sorry if any of you still feel that lonely. i know how awful it feels when it feels like the world is totally against you, but you just have to keep going and putting yourself out there. it only gets better with time. to anyone that feels as lonely as i did when i wrote this two years ago, know that you are not alone. you are loved. you are wanted. please keep going. your future self is so grateful, i promise you.

I can’t tell you much I love and appreciate your channel! Living alone during the pandemic hasn’t been easy, and I tend to get more anxious at night. This reminds me of the many times i used to rent a tiny rooftop apartment on Montmartre in Paris, the view from the windows and balcony was exactly what can be seen here. Sometimes there was also short rainshowers and muffled music could be heard from the neighbours below.

This is my absolute favorite mix to listen to while I write.
