Greetings from Finland & thank you for showing some love to Sabaton from our western neighbour Sweden. They are a great power metal band specialized in making songs about famous wars & heroes of war. Beats any history lessons. The drummer in this, Hannes van Dahl, is with Floor Jansen & they have an almost 4-year old Freja daughter. Given the genes Freja has gotten from her parents, she'll most likely be a tall woman with a succesfull career in music, should she choose that.

Hello Mr B. This video is about a soldier going to war as a carolean (swedish soldier) during the 30 year war (1618-1648). Sabaton is all about telling stories from different wars. I liked your reaction and i wish you a happy new year! Greetings from Sweden!

Thank you Mr. B. This is about the 30 year war (1618-1648) but as is typical of Sabaton it is about the human face of war and those involved in it. As Plato said only the dead know no more war, as this is reality for many even today. One of my top 5 favorite bands ever for bring dusty dead pages of history to life so you can experience what those involved but long forgotten really went through. The shot facing the 15,000+ crowd all with the cell phones lit, the drummer on the tank and the stage set as the Great War trench (recent album) makes this memorable. A real gut wrenching song for anyone touched by war. The best history course I ever took was a Sabaton concert!! Thank you again, as a veteran I can't stop thinking about buddies gone and remembering coming home and visiting their families to tell them how heroic their child was during the last moments of their existence. Be well and stay safe my friend.

Look up Sabaton History Channel here on you tube. There you will get history behind every song and the history on every songs recording and how and sometimes why the song came to life. They have a good friend who is historian, Indy Nidell, who has several channels on the history before during, after and between world war I and II, to tell the history behind the songs. They do really good research and good telling of the history. You should also look up the two latest shows/concerts by Sabaton at The Wacken rock festival, 2019 and 2020.They are both spectacular and special for different reasons. 2019 is special because it is a 2 hour show on 2 stages with 2 versions of Sabaton. It was a early celebration of Sabaton's 20th anniversary and Wacken's 30th anniversary at that show. They played at the same time at both stages. It was awesome and I get goosebumps just thinking and writing about it. The 2020 Wacken was just virtual with older recordings streamed interspersed with real real-time virtual concert on a 3D live-stage. Sabaton could just make it to Wacken because of then lifted coronavirus - restrictions on travel. So Sabaton came to Wacken and performed live on the virtual stage with virtual audience. The had real-time graphics of tanks and aeroplanes and other cool stuff. It is cool for other reasons than 2019. The 2020 concert you can look at magenta-musik-360.de. The full 2019 Wacken concert you will have to search high and low after. But it is so worth it. Even if you probably can't do a reaction video on them with video from then in it. Look it up and have a listen. One other concert it is worth to find is the one fron Woodstock rock festival in Poland in 2012. They played for a huge crowd of Poles on grounds near a battle field on the eve of the 70th anniversary of that battle. When they played the song "40:1",which is about that battle you can almost touch that atmosphere even now through the screen. That is also one electric performance. "En livstid i krig" / 'A lifetime of war' is two versions of the same song. When they wrote the lyrics they found that they had write a different lyric for the English version. The Swedish version is the more personalized outlook of a single private soldier and his lot in life. The English is a more zoomed out macro version of that time of wars in Europe and how the wars were waged in the name of religion. This song is from a whole album "Carolus Rex" with two versions, Swedish and English. Carolus Rex is the latin name for Charles the 12th, Karl XII. The Swedish version were just thought by Sabaton to be small fan appreciation thing. I think they were caught by surprise by how well the Swedish version of "Carolus Rex " sold and how much air playtime it got on Radio in Sweden.

The Tank is actually build as a kit and it takes roughly 2 hours to put together. There are to versions of the Tank. The interview did not say if one is bigger and the other is smaller but it stands to reason to have different sizes to the stage drumriser-tank. One is called Audie after Audie Murphy. I forgot the other tank-name.

The song is about a Swedish soldier who is sent to fight for his country during the 30 years war, also known as the Reformation war. They also have the song in English which tells the story of the war through the world at the time's eyes and the song 1648 is about the last battle of that war. They revolve mainly around history and they are quite controversial due to the amount of truth in their songs and they give a neutral perspective and try to take into account to honor both sides of the conflicts that they cover. They are working on a new album so if you come across more of their songs and find yourself addicted 😂, do look out for the new album. They have a history Channel called Sabaton History and is co produced with another group, WW2 who is run by the TimeGhost Army Channel, which is where they go into detail what their songs are about. It is time well spent if you have a few minutes to watch through a few of their videos. Do enjoy and Happy New Year.

The lyrics of this song are very powerful, but the english translation is not done very well in my opinion. It's a direct translation, but that often loses alot of meaning and even changes meaning when it comes to scnandinavian languages. Like for example "Because of the war, destroy a man" should more accurately be "For the war can, Destroy a man". Same thing with "So look at me like this", it is a quite cold translation, in English they would probably say "So see me as Him: a husband, a friend, father and son who never returns home." with "him" relating to the idea of the men who went to war, husbands, friends, fathers, and sons.
