Since, arguably, it's a commentary on consumerism--look at all the vaporwave memes and aesthetic available online-- it is essential to maintain anonymity and pass something as original though it's obviously been sampled. the same goes for most other music, especially in jazz. If you take a tune like "Lady Bird" by Tadd Dameron and "Half Nelson" by Miles Davis, you'll hear that the changes are basically the same with the melody being the only thing changed. Same goes for most baroque and classical music. In the present, it has become sampling.

I mean, I love this song, I just wish they'd been more original with mixing around their samples. I shouldn't be able to go to the original song and be able to spot how ridiculously similar they are.If you're going to sample a song, turn it into something new. Don't just slap on some filters and call it a day.The only song I've seen in this genre do that (as far as I'm aware) is II Teneki by VANTAGE. Or for a vaporwave example, 花の専門店 from Macintosh Plus.

This is a little off-topic, but that's one hell of a name haha. I kind of agree though I am on the fence about it. There were quite a few occasions where there'd be people asking for the original song and I'd say and my comment would get erased within an hour. I'm not entirely sure what the big secret is. I'm of the mind people should be able to enjoy the source material as well. I enjoy sampled work, especially when mixed well. But I think that's the nature of the beast of this particular genre and others. I will say this though; I cannot do what they do. So bravo to them, bringing old, but really great, and sometimes obscure, songs to light to be heard, even if it's just a little altered.

I was brought to this song, through a couple's video of their vacation in Japan.. I remember being depressed, and stoney bologna literally a few years ago.. I remember missing Japan bad, but feeling so trapped in life. I felt that life was flying by, and I didn't know how to make the moves that I wanted to. I could see me messing up, being comfortable, being afraid, and not chasing my dreams; But I did not know how to stop it.. Then one day, I came across this video Stoned.. and saw this girl literally chasing an hourglass, it was one of the scariest thing ever, and broke my heart.. After that I ran to my room, nearly had a panic attack, and impulsively brought a flight to Japan.. When the time to depart my home came, I promised to myself that I would never return to Japan unless it was for a year or more.. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be moving to Japan in August Indefinitely! どうもありがとう
