Simple review:
Steak was absolutely delicious and flavorful
The thickness of the steak was perfect and easy to cut
Nice thin crispy perfectly light golden brown breading on steak (very very flavorful)
Gravy was perfect( excellent taste and consistency) definitely homemade
Definitely hand breaded and wasn’t frozen
The size and portion was awesome size for lunch and had enough left over for two more meals
The price was 16.99 and was an awesome deal that included 3 sides and 2 types of bread
EXTRA POINTS:
Loved the size and atmosphere of this place, kind,efficient and friendly
The place is actual very inviting and homey,very packed and loud(you cam tell its regular customers that eat here) the regular small town feel,its been here since 1929
I would go back to try other things on the menu,(the pie is absolutely delicious and to die for
The place had a line out the door from the beginning to the end of our meal

Bluebonnet has the best breakfast plates in the world! Never eaten anything but breakfast there.....them pies stand a mile high also! The cinnamon rolls must be good, they are always sold out when I go there...

I haven't had chicken fried steak in years! I took one look at the chicken livers and knew they were overcooked. Sadly, today most public establishments that have fried chicken livers on their menu DO NOT know how to cook them. My mom and I LOVE fried chicken livers when we order them. We specifically have to ask them to cook them soft to get them halfway decent and eatable. How have you been around since 1929 and mess up Pinto beans? In Texas at that😂😂😂Even if they're can beans, you can still doctor them up to make them delicious. The road trip vlogs are cool! Keep them coming.

Did that waitress say, "right on" 😊 The cornbread looked really good. And those livers looked like they were cooked without a batter. I use a buttermilk batter for chicken livers 😋😋

Bluebonnet Cafe definitely has good chicken fried steak. Can’t wait to see your breakfast review, Chef Jeffrey. The western omelette with Texas toast and hash browns is my favorite. Don’t forget to get a cup of gravy on the side. The hotcakes are good, if you’re feeling extra hungry and the cinnamon rolls will cover the plate. If you’re still searching for great chicken fried steak, travel a little farther North on 281 (then Hwy 29) to Highlander House of Buffet & Steakhouse, in Burnet, TX. I think they’re the best chicken fried steaks in the Hill Country. Just be aware that they are a buffet restaurant and they don’t have chicken fried steak every day. They are open from 11:00 am - 3:00pm. You would probably want to call ahead to make sure of the menu, in advance, before making the drive. If you do, be sure you’re hungry! It’s an all you can eat buffet.
