This year ill be traveling all over the state of Texas to find the best chicken fried steak in Texas
This week i am exploring the texas/mexico rio grande /deep south texas area of Texas

Simple review:
Steak was absolutely MASSIVE
The thickness of the steak was actually too thick and very difficult to cut
Was also a bit tough to chew because of the thickness of the steak
Nice thin crispy perfectly light golden brown breading on steak (very very flavorful)
the breading was actually a bread crumb type breading and not your traditionally flour breading
Gravy was perfect( excellent taste and consistency) definitely homemade
Definitely hand breaded and wasn’t frozen
The size and portion was awesome size for lunch and had enough left over for two more meals
The price was 30.00 and was an awesome deal that included mashed potatoes,cream corn and Texas toast
EXTRA POINTS:
Loved the size and atmosphere of this place, kind,efficient and friendly
The place is actual very inviting and homey,very packed and loud(you cam tell its regular customers that eat here) the regular small town feel
I would go back to try other things on the menu,(the bbq ribs i heard are amazing and the brisket as well
they have an outside patio as well

I enjoyed this CFS segment. I remember a restaurant (now closed) in Giddings on 290 that served a whole tenderized round steak, including the bone, as their breaded CFS. I also related to why people live in Austin. Although I was born and raised in Houston, I moved to Austin after finishing college and stayed for over 25 years. My sons were born in Austin, and one still lives there now. That son is the owner and pitmaster at Bigg Belly BBQ in Austin /watch?v=U-v4l8hlYNg. I go there every month to visit his family and a lot of friends who are there. The population of Austin is growing faster, and the roads can be built to accommodate the increased traffic.
