I just saw this video today, and the beginning hit me, I started mountain biking a couple months ago during quarantine, and I have found my new passion. I am on the younger end as a teenager, and so thankful that I started it. To me it has been one of the only things that really make me happy, and so happy that the community is so nice. This guy is the person who I think should be like the face of mountain biking, he's the perfect example of who you should think of when someone brings up mountain biking.

Heathcliff I have a retro bike, Cannondale F 900 Cad 2 and a specialized stumpjumper ST and there’s no comparison. The newer bikes have better geometry

It deppends on whether you get enjoyment from doing it and a restored Hightower is more than $500. You can see he is using a mixture of new and old gear too and it's for a local kid free of charge paid for by his patreons (spelling?)... I've just rebuilt my On One Fatty V2 with a Acid dip, polish, UV Clear Coat and rebuild. I also own a Marin Bear Valley circa 98' which a steel frame, single speed with new brakes, rear wheel etc.. Makes a great commute bike and the old Geometry was better for climbing vs modern slack bikes.

yeah. I always wanted a good mtb but they are too expensive new. So I bought retro Hot Chili Rampage mtb for 100$. I changed the forks, tires, stem and bars and i restored the paint. what an amazing thing to do for a complete stranger. I love the bike and I think the colour scheme works perfect. Carson didn't have to say much as his look said it all. I've been watching your channel for a while now and I love all the builds you do. I built a bike for my Son 'Will' when he was born and have kept it hidden from him until he turns 16 whic is about 7 years away. I hope he likes it as much as Carson liked the build you did for him. It's a joy to see greatful young people, it's also a joy to see someone like yourself (i just found your channel) that donated his time and skills to fix this bike up because the knowledge and wisdom of taking it apart, painting it, and putting it together is a lot of expensive work through a bike shop. I just bought and older Jamis as an upgrade to my SE Stout and I thought "I'm going to start riding and getting back into better shape because I'm 45 and a little heavy on thw gut side 😂. Turns out it has hydraulic brakes that will need to be beld and redone which is already out of my budget and I don't know how to do it, I've never had hydraulic brakes so when I saw it at tye pawn shop I thought it just needed pads which I could have done. This is where the Bible says "get knowledge and wisdom" because the two work hand and hand 👍. I'm enjoying your videos, God bless
