As a one of the workers for that concert, here's couple fun facts : - Yes, fireworks crew used in ears. They tested that everything worked the night before - Nightwish had 6 trucks full of gear for that night - Nightwish had a crew of 50 for that night - There were about 50 construction workers doing everything from flooring the Track & Field to stalls and fences - Actual stage is owned by city of Tampere and is used in other big concerts and festivals

Finnish, not Swedish. Finnish is a very unique and unusual language. From the Uralic family of languages, such as Hungarian. Swedish is the Indo-European>Germanic language family. You are correct. It is an Irish version which is actually much more difficult to play. It is also much more musically expressive. Finland is very far north and this was on July 31st. This was a kind of homecoming show. Thus the big production. Troy is now a permanent member of Nightwish and will be on almost every song from here on. Yes, Floor is doing the part of the narrator of evolution with the talking part. A little story about 4.6 billion years of evolution. Life began in the ocean for all of us. No water, no life. Fire is also when man truly began our journey to the top of the food chain. Remember the climax states "We WERE here"! Life is The Greatest Show on Earth. There is a version out there with lyrics which I think would add to your appreciation of this song, since it's epic not only musically but thematically. It covers evolution, from the big bang (fireworks) and onwards. The line "enter ratkind" is from Richard Dawkins book about what will follow when humanity has killed itself off...not happy but still. Floor's singing, or almost reciting, I see as how evolution and nature isn't about emotions. It's emotionless and just happens, but that may be reading too much into it. Still, you're always fun to join so thanks for another interesting one. Keep it up! :-) Oh, and from someone who loves to cook, care to share some cajun goodness, i.e. recipes? I'd love to try it up here in the cold North...

Troy’s woodwind instrument is a low whistle. Not very old or traditional, but could be associated with Irish/Celtic music and the Titanic movie theme.

the reason I said I didnt want to label the wood whistle used was because so many cultures around the world use a similar whistle trying not to offend anymore than I already have..... but the instrument used in the Movie Titanic was actually the standard Orchestra Flute... not a wooden flute or metal Irish whistle like everyone assumes... I checked to make sure before I said "its like titanic" and everyone screams in the comments...

Awesome reaction. It is a shame that you were given the edited down version to watch, there is about 3-4 minutes more music in the outro and a couple more spoken pieces that round out the song. No worries, you weren't to know but do check out the full version at some point to get the full message :) Editing as I watch lol: That's not THE guitarist, that title goes to Emppu, but Troy is a multi-instrumentalist who joined the band at the same time as Floor, although he has done previous work with them too. Edit to edit... nevermind Floor's narration voice: I see a few suggest it is her representing something akin to mother nature, I rather see it as her personifying Science, telling us facts, not stories. That tap of music is the background was the first in a little musical evolution that was portrayed. An old traditional piece, some Bach, a riff from Metallica's Enter the Sandman and a little EDM drumroll flourish to finish it out Small suggestion, could you try moving the sub names to the bottom centre of the screen? They draw the eye a LOT, if in the bottom centre they will at least keep your eyes where the action is, it was driving me slightly nuts, though I understand why you have it and that is cool. Better yet a scrolling ticker, at least something that isn't constantly popping and grabbing attention, a rolling ticker does the same job but would be less of a distraction. Just a suggestion :)

You must check the history of this band...Emppu - the guitarist - is the second founding member of this band....all the others have joined much later and NW was famous and great already back then before those others joined. By the way ...the bass player is called Marco and is the best singer there is...unfortunately not anymore. He co-wrote this masterpiece performance and song with Tuomas. They did this song possible. Miss Marco so much. There is no Swede here...anymore. Tuomas wanted to become a marine biologist but iterrupted his university studies on that. He has a personal "addiction" in good and versatile level to oceans and that issue can be seen everywhere in his songs. The best covering group calls themselves as "Ocean Souls" and are also great. But why you ended the video too early...the album song is even longer?!

Marco is a very good singer, solo and in duet. Watch 'Islander' from the same concert or 'High hopes' (Pink Floyd cover by NW). He is a welcome guest singer with the band Delain.

Marko, is not quite that "hidden" gem. :) He fronted one of the pioneerin heavy rock bands in Finland from mid '80 with his older brother. Tarot was the band and Marko was the lead singer / bassist. Marko was also asked to audition into Iron Maiden when Bruce left the band in early '90.

I don't know the exact inspiration for Floors stage costume, but I definately see the white strips forming serpents motifs, the metal rings etc. - it looks straight out of Norse Viking culture to me.

You didn’t finish the song. The outro is just as awesome as the song itself!
