Front wheel drive with a 455 has a neat ring to it lol

My dream has been to drive a Toronado in Europe ... kudos to this Norwegian for bringing over such a fine example. Although the early models were more striking, mechanically the later 1970 versions was more refined (bigger engines plus disk brakes).
@Dinkymaster78 ай бұрын
This one was last facelift of first generation. By 1970, they did have disc brakes as standard. The 455 was also the stamdard engine. Only thing this one really was missing was cruise control, power door locks and fm radio...

@@Dinkymaster7 When did you bring it to Norway, and how much did the transportation cost you at the time?
@Dinkymaster78 ай бұрын
@@ivantuma7969 it wasn't me that did it personally, but if i recall the car was bought in New Jersey for 4500 usd and shipping was around 1200! This was done back in 2009.
@ivantuma79698 ай бұрын
@@Dinkymaster7 probably $2000 to ship today ... but I remember shipping two Maserati BiTurbos and an Audi Wagon to Bremenhaven from New Jersey in 1991 for about $550 each. Thanks

@@ivantuma7969 yes, actually as of today, with the crazy prices, I think getting a car shipped to Norway is more like 2500 usd, it's crazy

That's a lot car right there to light em up like that .W34 455 olds Rocket power 😊
@edbiller84552 ай бұрын
not a W34 - this is the stock 455, and boy what a sound! The W34 "GT" package had factory cutouts in the rear bumper and a GT emblem on the hood script to go alongside its mild cam. only about 5000 of the 25000 Toronados made for 1970 featured this package. The owner clearly did not want to ruin his rubber, because if he stood on the gas (biggest go pedal GM ever put in a car) and really fed her the onions, he could explode those tires at a standstill. That's what you get with a 4400-lb car pushing 375 HP and 500 ft/lb of torque.

... lol, fuel was like $0.35 a gallon when these cars were made. Fuel economy was not factored in, when they were built 😆

Mine is this car too, in gold (Nugget Gold). Now prices for this cars are rising quick.
@edbiller84552 ай бұрын
Prices aren't rising on this model, at least not in the United States. I bought a running/driving 1970 Toronado last year (code 46 ming jade paint, the one-year-only Toronado-only shade you see in this video, plus Custom interior, Ivory vinyl and black carpet) for $2500. Unless it is a '66 or a '70 GT, prices are very reasonable for first-gens. The real cost is parts. Leaf springs? Yeah they don't make those. Prepare to have them custom made. Gas tank? One vendor and it'll cost you almost $1000. Trim pieces for the interior or exterior? Good luck. The bright side is a few should still be out there; about 25k Toros were made in 1970, and about 5000 of those were GTs.
