I am a former tropical islander from the Indian ocean and I have so much respect for the West Indians for carnival and soca. Ole times carnival seem so beautiful and sad that it has been slowly eroding.

The costumes were pretty OK back then and they were aware of what was happenings globally. Hell i was only 4 yrs. old then. Nice upload !

I agree with you. Now it's all about showing skin.... and it's not all very attractive. What's next? going naked?????. I HOPE NOT. The twerking is also disgusting, so vulgar. Some of these " twerkers" look so ridiculous. I am not saying that one should not have a good time and “break away" as we used to say but the twerking has gone too far. Twerk in the privacy of your home. Somebody has to say it, so I AM.

Have you noticed that they survived without all those big trucks. What a far cry from what is produced today. Every band is distinct. It is time for bandleaders to become creative and put something out for one to marvel about. People had less money then, so it cannot be for the lack of money why they cannot get rid of the bikinis and beads.

Yes, they had pan and brass and seeing big truck there was a bit shock for me. Need to go back and look at old time carnival and show the skills. And the music. It is getting lost and making it a big tourist melt of people.

Bruce Dummett: remember wen uh mother would cook she pigeon peas and rice, pack she basket and carry it down d road to feed any body who want food, and , mauby was alsways there sitting in a bottle to wash it down.. 😄😄😄 every body mother was called "tanty" when they see food. Wa hapen to d good ole days ????. boy ah miss it!!!.
