Respect to you for this one Hatman, I gotta say I was kinda surprised how much stick you got in the comments on the original video. I had it very close myself, to the point it could of gone to either man by a round or two or even the draw could of been acceptable for me. I guess the point people was trying to make wasn’t the argument of a Breidis win, it was probably the robbery thing. But you stand by your own opinion of what you have just seen the first time around and that’s exactly what you did in the first post fight video after the fight so there’s no issue there bro, you always speak openly and honestly about how you see it which is why I and so many of us enjoy your channel so much. Respect

Well you sort of answered your own point at the very start of that comment there, he very likely would be beaten by the pair of them, and neither of them could be flogged to the casual fan in the UK so financially there wasn’t much in it for him, yet he found the offer of lifelong financial security for him and his family ironically against a former undisputed cruiser champ who is way past his best. I’m no bellew fan whatsoever but you’re crazy to think you’d of played it any differently to what he did here. If I was in his shoes I’d of done exactly the same

Anyone think Usyk thought the wrong fight he tried to go to war with Briedis who i believed is the physically stronger man. I could see Usyks face that he was fairly frightened in this fight. Briedis deffo won most of the early rounds but Usyk came back in a bit halfway and started to counter Usyk. Briedis was never really hurt whereas Usyk was. Briedis was a lot more composed whereas as Usyk had excessive movement but i guess thats his amateur style.

I was a little salty that the underdog Breidis didn't get it, considering he fought the fight of his life, & with all due respect if you scored that fight for ANYONE by a wide margin, you really don't know as much as you think you do about the sweet science. I appreciate subjectivety but this was the essence of a close, highly competitive, skill vs will, Split/Majority Decision/Draw fight. And anybody who scored widely either way, their motives and emotional investment should be seriously questioned.

I didn't score the fight round by round, but my impression was that the right man won. I could just about have accepted Briedis winning, though: it was a close fight. It's really refreshing to see someone listen, reconsider, and change his mind, even if you still think Briedis won.
@puttyputty1237 жыл бұрын
Fair play Hatman. I was expecting a tough fight though since I have been impressed by Breidis before. I think we get too much caught up in hype in general and close fights doesn't mean that the favorite is automatically is losing or is so much worse than we thought - mostly because we hype or buy into hype too much. I love that this World Boxing series got, pretty much, a lot of the best of the best lining up against each other. Very excited about next cruiserweight fight in this series also, should be great. Not a foregone conclusion that Usyk will win in the end either. Don't think Usyk can afford to get hit that often cleanly against Gassiev/Dorticos either - they seem to punch harder.
@johndawhale31977 жыл бұрын
It's funny how people are saying Usyk will never beat Joshua based on this performance but when do you ever see that amount of activity from any of the taller Heavyweights with the exception of Wilder maybe. Usyk and Briedis traded about twice as many punches in their fight as Joshua has with any of his opponents. Usyk has a MASSIVE stamina advantage over Joshua.
@johndawhale31977 жыл бұрын
We've already seen what he's like at 220 in WSB and he looks better at that weight than when he's fighting at 199.
@lewismusgrave85387 жыл бұрын
JohnDaWhale3 for a stamina advantage to come into play you are going to have to actually make it to the later rounds. Unless Usyk can learn how to prevent getting countered like he did in this fight he probably won't. Not only does Joshua counter with much harder punches than breidis, but imo he is also a lot faster and more skilled at setting up traps with them too. Usyk never attempts counters himself, it's a big hole in his game.
@johndawhale31977 жыл бұрын
+Lewis Musgrave Usyk was fighting front foot a lot of the time against Briedis, he wont be doing much of that at Heavyweight. His style will look totally different against the bigger guys and he can use his legs to greater effect.
@luisortizszimmerframe69337 жыл бұрын
Fair play Hatman - I scored it after watching your initial response video and I ended up scoring it to Breidis by 2 rounds but there were at least 3-4 rounds that could have swung the other way depending on what you like and I have no problem with Usyk getting the decision because he was the one pressing the action for most of the fight...
@danielwilliams55287 жыл бұрын
Fair play to come out say your judgment was off I was shocked from the first review I didn’t care who won fight as I thought they both fought like champions should but edged Usyk by 2 rounds

Question out to all those in the know...how exactly do you score a fight? Surely Judges have to go off a set standard rather than their personal preference? Or is that not the case?
@Rich_Reid7 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ben.So if coincidently there's 3 Judges that prefer a particular style say a high work rate pressure fighter.....before a punch is even thrown that fighter has a slight advantage.Obviously i'm simplifying this massively but if boxing is the art of hit and don't hit. Isn't the winner of each round whoever lands the most effective shots? Can't technology help out?
@shamidizzle7 жыл бұрын
There is a criteria for scoring fights. The 4 things you have to take into account is Ring Generalship, Defence, Effective Aggression, Hard & Clean Punches. Which one you prioritise depends on what you like as an individual when you watch a fight. For me personally Hard and Clean Punches is the most important then the others follow.

I gave it to Uyk 6 rounds to 4, with 2 even.It was a close fight and the rounds I called even could easily have gone to Briedis.I watched it with Russian commentary so I wasn't influenced by that.You could have given a draw, but I don't think Briedis could justifiably have gotten the verdict.Fair play to you for being prepared to watch it again objectively.Usyk made the running Briedis was effective at countering his shots but imo didnt do enough to win.Usyk maybe suffered because he is perceived as some sort of destroyer,he is like Kovalev, a long puncher,ineffective inside,where Briedis was strong.

I call it even. Usyk kept up the pressure throughout and looked fit where Breidis appeared to flag in second half (no snap in his jabs) but - Breidis rocked Usyk forcing him to clinch. Well, to be biased is to favour something in a way that can be seen as irrational or unfair. An opinion is a judgment one makes on a particular subject with reasoning through facts or knowledge. "Bias" is better used in context if someone expresses an overtly prejudiced opinion or an unjust pretense of someone. In this instance, Hatman is *unbiased, because his opinion does not differ with YOURS. Class dismissed.
