1) you WAS right about the round.. I'll explain.. Fury started Getting tired, his nose got broken and he though he was gonna finish Usyk by then. 2) the reason these big guys don't step on the gas is because Usyk is tougher than and hits harder than believed. He's also stronger than expected and his work rate makes them too gassed to chase him down. That combination will make anyone second guess.

I have been shocked by how many people in the boxing industry and online believed it was extremely close. Its as if people had been watching completely different fights. Usyk bullied Fury most of the fight and gave Fury a beating. Fury did hurt Usyk a few times with uppercuts some of which may have been low blows but for the most part Usyk was getting the cleanee shots and throwing way more punches.

Show boating. Also Tyson is charismatic. He seduces you. He makes you think he's better than he is. He will tell you a fight with Tom Schwarz. triology with washed up Chisora is mega PPV event yet a fight with Frank Sanchez and Makhmudov doesn't fetch money.

It was somewhat close. Saying it was a total blowout and a boxing masterclass by Usyk is just not true. He was missing a lot and did take a lot of hard shots. Just look at his face in the end. But he ultimately did more damage and won more rounds, the key to winning at boxing.

💯 It wasn’t close - I had 9-2 with 1 even. I can be generous and say 9-3 with one of the rounds being 10-8 for Usyk. That’s 117 to 110 in my book 🤷🏾‍♂️

The one part of this I disagree on was the ref intervention. During the sequence where Usyk was landing at will on Fury the ref legitimately intercepted an Usyk punch and held onto his wrist. He then let go and allowed the action to continue. That is not some excusable ‘either way’ thing. That’s him outright interfering with the action to protect while not actually stopping the fight or scoring a knockdown. May have been the angle you watched from that you didn’t notice but it’s insanely blatant and inexcusable

It feels good to see someone like Usyk achieve this much success. No out of control Ego, He isn't delusionaly cocky. He respects all his opponents. He's humble even when he could be drunk with confidence but he doesn't choose that route. On top of that Usyk Is brave enough to wear his emotions on his sleeve (even tho it's so often people say strong men shouldn't be emotional) Usyk is a great role model because expressing emotion isn't weak. It can be the realist way to build TRUE Strength. Also the dude is a comedian even when he isn't trying to be.. Lol He's just a goofy character naturally and a very dedicated hard working professional athlete. I was very impressed with the quality & caliber of this fight from both guys. I felt Usyk clearly did enough to get a Win but I told my dad "Watch they give the decision to Fury" it seemed I was right but Thank God Usyk won. Insane how he only won by 1 point on 1 judges card! That's insane how close they were to Robbing Usyk. That shot where Usyk that landed right on Fury's Nose got an immediate reaction and lots of bleeding, is where I think the fight really shifted into a different gear. It was a great battle. Both guys should be proud of how well they fought. Fury should realize the rematch is happening and stop with any of that other BS he started pulling out post fight. Also all those headlines & reports/posts claiming "Usyk isn't doing a post fight interview due to going to the hospital with a broken jaw" Turned out to all be lies. Even Fury publicly ran with it in his post fight interview. Usyk addressed the lies himself In a Post fight interview with NO broken jaw... Enough shady BS. The judges almost stole that win away from Usyk. He only won by 1 point on one judges card?! It was that close to being ripped away from him.. I wish boxing didn't have all this crap stuck to it. At first I really liked seeing the sportsmanship after the fight BUT then fury complained about the decision (that's fine they are instantly doing the rematch) but then it sounded like he was going to express respect & compassion towards Ukraine & how it's being invaded by Russia BUT he then flipped it and used it to come up with a excuse as to why he lost because people felt compassion for Usyk? That's such utter BS! I just hate all this extra nonsense that they've attached to Boxing. Besides all of that. It was a great fight lol It's almost poetic to see someone of the caliber & character of Usyk be the one representing UKRAINE. It feels like he achieved a rare honor that now can be gifted to his entire country. Even if it's only in the form of internal pride for your country and for everyone there who's going thru this challenging chapter.. I hope Usyk winning this world title can give the people of Ukraine faith that THEY can overcome ANYTHING.

Usyk is a boxing genius, most boxers fight at the same level until tiredness sets in whereas Usyk has many levels allowing him to rest and giving a false impression he is tired, this technique gives the opponent a false sense of security then of course Usyk takes that newfound confidence away, pure talent

Very good analysis! After watching it again, I even came to the conclusion giving Fury the 12th round is wrong. Usyk landed more. Warren, Hearn, Davies and even Froch are imo wrong when they say it was close. Fury / Usyk 1) 9-10 2) 9-10 (18-20) 3) 9-10 (27-30) 4) 10-9 (37-39) 5) 10-9 (47-48) 6) 10-9 (57-57) 7) 9-10 (66-67) 8) 9-10 (75-77) 9) 8-10 (83-87) 10) 9-10 (92-97) 11) 9-10 (101-107) 12) 9-10 (110-117) If you want to score the 12th maybe 10-9 Fury or 10-10, it would be either 111-116 or 111-117. Sorry but Fury only won for sure rounds 4, 5 and 6. People say he won some rounds of the first three, but he didnt really. The showboating fooled too many people even me.

I 100% agree with your scorecard. And the 12th wasn't in dispute for me - another Usyk round, even though Hatman gives it to Fury. And the 4th was actually close as well, which no one seems to mention. Could even give that to Usyk. But regardless, clear Usyk win although a lot of the rounds were competitive.

Fury is absolutely brilliant. During the fight I myself was so bamboozled that I had him winning 5 of the first 6 rounds 😂. Having Fury fans in Manchester cheering him didn't help my objectivity either. With that being said, I still at the time had it 6 rounds a piece, which meant 114-113 Usyk still. Upon watching the fight again I only gave Fury 4 rounds. Rounds 3 to 6 Fury, while still being generous by giving Fury the round 3. This fight was 9-3 at worst or 7-5 best for Fury. Clear victory for Usyk.

I guess Hatman's right and they were fooled by Fury's showboating, because I saw Usyk pushing the pace in the first three rounds, taking the centre of the ring, being the aggressor, and landing the cleaner, more effective punches. I gave 1-3 to Usyk 4-7 Fury 8-11 Usyk 12 swing round So 116-111 Usyk, or 115-112 if you gave the last round to Fury. How one judge could score the fight for Fury baffles me... unless of course there was a financial incentive involved 👀

I thought the genius of Usyk was not just that he realised mid fight that Fury was having so much succes hurting him by spamming the uppercut under his guard (tapping points are one thing, but Fury really was hurting him badly), but that he then found a way to use that against a compeletely unsuspecting Fury. In the ninth he moved close with high guard and wide elbows, enticing the uppercut that Fury knew to be working so well, and then, the split second Fury took the bait, bang comes a right stop hit leaving Fury totally exposed with both hands down and jaw wide open to the instant big left follow up that sent him into cloud cukoo land without even knowing what hit him. So perfectly executed, in both timing and accuracy with a huge risk if he messed it up, and all in just a split second so that it looked like it came out of nowhere. But that didn't come out of nowhere-that's instinct, he must have drilled for that over and over. Like he siad, he was going to turn Fury's strengths against him, and he did. He almost foreshadowed that'd be the shot that'd finish him off when he brazenly walked up to him and clubbed with an overhand left in the 1st and 2nd. Great fight.

Congratulations Hatman, you deserve full props for your prediction for the fight and explanation of how it was going to go down. That showboating after getting hit early in the first round on the nose was the first sign that Fury had been hurt. He was on the defensive for the rest of the fight…trying to delay the inevitable…apart from the 4th, 5th and 6th when he had some success with that uppercut…but, 7th was the beginning of the end…Usyk win every round from that point. The ref, should have been aware there was only 30 seconds to go and let Usyk finish. Instead of that, he actually kept getting in his way protecting Fury…! I used to respect Richie Woodhall but his commentary, his fictional scorecard and his comments afterwards were a disgrace.

Watching the fight live I was baffled how everyone scored the first three rounds to Fury. I was watching it BT commentary, they were very bias towards Fury but even with the commentary I still scored the first 3 to Usyk comfortably. Everytime Usyk landed, Fury would start showboating which is a tell Usyk just landed something clean. Rounds 4,5,6 were very good rounds for Fury, but those rounds Usyk was taking a breather and his output went down, but while Usyk wasn't throwing he made Fury throw a lot of punches which drained Fury by round 7. Round 8 Usyk busted Fury's nose badly. We all know what happened in round 9, round 10, 11 were slow but Usyk rounds. Round 12 was Fury. It was a clear Usyk win. The showboating of Fury and the commentary fooled most people.

The referee held onto Usyk's arm twice, preventing him from capitalizing on crucial moments. First, as Usyk was about to throw a hook (23 seconds before the end of the round), the referee pulled his left arm, forcing disengagement (check the footage). Crucially, before the ref grabbed Usyk's arm a second time, Usyk hadn't landed a damaging blow on Fury for around 5 seconds, as Fury was evading him and moving towards the corner. Fury's stumble into the corner was self-induced while trying to escape Usyk, not caused by a punch's impact. This is the first time in championship boxing that a boxer was given 20 seconds to recover by the referee after self-induced stumbling while trying to evade an opponent. I repeat, the escape then stumble into the corner was not caused by a punch's impact, yet the referee led Fury by the arm to his own corner at the end of the round - an unprecedented move in boxing. The 40-pound weight difference (262 lbs and 222 lbs) as a ratio is approximately 1.18 made it akin to welterweight Floyd Mayweather (147 lbs) battering light heavyweight Artur Beterbiev pillar to post. Additionally, besides the massive weight, height, and reach disadvantage, the referee obstructed Usyk's movement and path at critical moments by holding his arm twice, robbing him of a KO win.

Completely agree with your assessment. I also had Usyk winning and outclassing Fury .But after watching the fight i actually think that had Fury played his cards differently he could have won. 1) He was nervous the whole week leading up to the fight and even in the stare right before the boxing match. Usyk had instilled fear in him. I firmly believe he was mentally defeated before getting in the ring. 2) He wasn't serious or focused. He relied too much in the showboating whereas he could have tried to solve the Usyk puzzle early on. Usyk was at work and collecting data. 3) He found a groove in the middle rounds by long arming him and during those rounds he actually made Usyk seem small. But for whatever reason he stopped doing it after a few rounds. 4) As you noted he was too gun shy and never let his right hand go. Never capitalised on his success and didn't follow up when he stunned Usyk a few times. This was his undoing and i couldn't understand why. Now, about : 4) after watching a few breakdowns i realise that what actually led to his knock down on the 9th was that he did let his right hand go and he missed. Which led to Usyk punishing him for it. My only explanation is that he was afraid of this exact thing and he somewhat anticipated it and it stopped him from pulling the trigger. But it was a mistake and he should have gone all in. And about: 3) it is possible that its not Fury who changed his game but rather Usyk ramped it up in a way that he couldnt keep up anymore which means that Usyk was deliberately draining him during those rounds only to finish him off later on. I believe Fury got in that ring anxious and defeated exactly as Klitchko a decade ago.

I can't get that "Happy new year!" line out of my head. Partly because it's hilarious, but partly because I wonder if it shows an insight into Tysons build up to the event. Tyson was clearly concussed and we know that they were due to fight on Dec 23rd previously. But that doesn't fully explain it. Instead I wonder if Tyson had visualised his win hundreds of times and played out his celebration speech at the end. So when he got to that point with a concussion, his muscle memory of a practiced scenario kicked in and he accidentally concluded with New year wishes. If this was what happened then it would back up that Tyson always wanted to fight and didn't pull out on purpose. I also wonder if he'd planned to say something complimentary about the Ukraine war and that's why it was on his mind (that one is more of a stretch tbf).

Calculated, front foot counterpunching southpaw with elite hand speed and the best footwork in Heavyweight boxing (maybe ever). Usyk is the full bag of tricks and he even has some serious power on the rare occasions when he sits down on his shots. His chin is underrated. His "weak body" is a myth. His IQ and stamina are off the charts. His accomplishments are legendary. Gold everything in the Amateurs. Undisputed Cruiser and Heavy in only 22 professional fights. Time to hang them up. Nothing left to prove. Oleksandr Usyk has made boxing better than it's been in decades and I'm glad I was lucky enough to watch.

Leonard v Hagler controversy. Much closer fight but fans and judges blinded by flash and bursts of activity confined to last minute of each round and flashy showy non effective work. Hagler like Uysk chased their opponents and their punching output was more dominant and effective. Maybe not being the a-side means tv commentators favoured TFury but watching it live I saw Uysk clearly winning most rds and doing severe consistent damage to Fury (8-4) I think Dubois AJ Tyson trying to outbox Uysk and win from the outside is due to their fear of going on the front foot and not being able to maintain it for 12 Uysks movement feints and distance movement is difficult to read and expends your energy if you wait to counter him. Uysk is more of a volume concussive puncher but in the 7-12 rds when your cardio is ending their power increases hence him stopping Dubios almost stopping AJ in the first and stopping Fury (Mark Francis the cheating ref clearly on WBC orders to stop an Uysk 9th rd ko) As a natural cruiser weigh his lighter on his feet and quicker hand speed and all round athlete similar to Mike Tyson’s superior speed and power causing chaos for lumbering one paced heavyweight. Respect to both men but Uysks chin is elite he took some bad uppercuts and right hands staggered returned for more action. Is there anything else for him to prove apart fro cash ? Happy new year

I couldn't agree more, people sleep on his power because of his Cruiserweight career & the fact that AJ & Fury are super Heavyweights. Usyk is a superb athlete & he has mastered putting everything he has into his punches, all those hundreds of amateur fights & then the Cruiser division. I don't care how big the other man is, if a 6.3ft top athlete with decades of Boxing experience catches you flush, even if you see it coming it's gonna do damage. If you don't see it coming you're going down. If Fury hadn't been cut & the fight had happened I'm thinking that Fury wouldn't have survived the 9th round.

So yeah you're absolutely right it's just a loss it's not the end of the World. I think Usyk will honour the rematch, he's the A-side this time & the money is so good he'll take the fight. I'd be up for fight 2, Fury has plenty he can improve on especially fitness conditioning. Now Usyk knows he can hurt Fury he'll be looking to get him outta there. I did enjoy the fight, they both delivered but I'm thinking Usyk has Fury's number.

Tyson Fury show boats to get the judges to look at him. History shows that if you're flashy and perform many antics, and get the judges to watch you more, they're more likely to score rounds for you, even if you get outpunched. That's how Muhammad Ali won so many fights where he was getting out-punched by 50 to 100 solidly connecting punches. Ali lost 5 fights but actually should have lost at least 15. Fury got away with fighting a dirty, foul fight -- getting away with almost as many fouls as Lennox Lewis -- but in the end he lost to a master boxer.

Usyk's aggression and lateral movement make all his opponents hesitant to throw heavy leather. AJ took a lot of flak for boxing with him but Bellew, Dubois and Fury couldn't keep him on his back foot either. Usyk's power is also no joke, he hurt AJ early in the first fight and knocked Fury out. Personally I'd say it's all of Speed, Power, Skill and Aggression that stops people 3 stone heavier from walking him down.

I can't believe how close this analysis was to that of my own. I especially picked up on Usyk's methods in the clinch. Expert stuff. Only thing I would say Hatman, I think you were spot on about the turning point actually being in the 8th, not the 9th. When Usyk lands cleanly on Fury's nose and busts it open, that's what turns things prior to the flurry in the next round. And absolutely agree, people who give Fury any of the first 3 rounds or all this bollocks about him being 5-1 up after 6 are talking squarely out their arse.
@RossKempOnYourMum01
@RossKempOnYourMum01 7 ай бұрын
The turning point was actually before the nose break. In the 8th, Usyk started holding his feet in the pocket and countering that fury uppercut with combinations. For the previous 3 rounds the uppercut had been freezing or backing Usyk off. The moment Usyk kept the exchange going THROUGH the fury single shot, Fury was shaken. Fury came to throw singles and disengage rather than mix it with the smaller Usyk - which tells me that he and his team must know his chin is shot to pieces.

When I watched it live I thought Usyk won the 12th pretty clearly, but all 3 judges scored the 12th for Fury. Then I started hearing analysts like Hatman who are usually on the mark with scoring, also saying that Fury won the 12th. So I watched that round again, several times, and I still saw Usyk winning it. So then I checked the CompuBox punch stats and they have Usyk landing 14 power punches to Fury's 7 and 6 jabs to Fury's 5, which matches what I see when I watch it. Usyk won the 12th pretty clearly.

A very good and accurate analysis... very much as I saw the fight go and it should've been a majority decision at the very least, if not a unanimous one. The split decision was a travesty and a worrying concern at the time, I'm just really glad that the right man walked away with his '0' record still intact and headed back home with the highest boxing accolade of all becoming The Undisputed Heavyweight World Champion....and no matter what happens going forward, that accolade will always be associated with him whenever his name is mentioned. In regards to round 9, my personal opinion is thst the referee shouldn't have given Fury the standing 8 count, but he should've either have: 1. Let Usyk deliver the final KO blow he was about to unleash onto Fury's head (Fury was completely defenceless at that point) or 2. Stop the fight because he was concerned about all the clean punches Fury had just taken and the defenceless state he was now in, and therefore what that final KO blow to the head might do to Fury's future health. Unfortunately for me, Turki Alalshik would've owed me £100,000 (if he'd kept his word) as I had Usyk winning by KO in the 9th round....but money isn't everything (yes it's very beneficial but there's far more to life than riches), I'm just really glad that Usyk humbled Fury, because win or lose Usyk is a humble man, and Fury needed the public humiliation because he thinks of himself way more highly than he ought to, and in doing so it means he thinks way less of other people than he should. Hopefully, for Fury's sake, it's a lifelong lesson well learned in the benefit of walking in humility and not spewing blatant lies and treating others with continual disrespect 🙏🏾

After 3 rounds Compubox had Usyk 21-12 up on power punches. Fury lead 21-12'in jabs. By the end of the 7th Fury had built a lead in power punches 63 to 56. It was 69-68 to Fury end of round 8. From rounds 10 Usyk took over 36-15 in power punches which coincides with the bloody nose. If I was Tyson I'd go up to 270 lbs and take it to Usyk. Bearing in mind he has no sparring due to cut I think he'd have a good chance if winning by stoppage. Either way both are past their prime now.
