I've had the s30r baton 3 for right about a year. Medium use just about every day. I'm going to get this light for my rifle in a few weeks, looks like a winner.

The different switch ends seem very nice. I hope this turns out to be a dependable light.

Moonlight mode is mandatory for me. Momentary switches are nice. I really do not care for the last mode used memory, but it does come in handy sometimes. I am in the habit of returning my lights to moonlight mode when I am done with the light. That way, no surprises in the dark next time I use it. Imagine getting up at 3am for the usual 3 am stuff and turning on turbo mode? I don’t like those forward switches cause they are impossible to find with gloves on. I leave the clip so it points to the forward switch, but still can not find the switch with gloves on. As for the tail switch only turbo mode? That would drive me bonkers, but I use lights differently than you do and I quit flying in 2009 and only used red lights in the cockpit, so I can’t comment on moonlight mode in the cockpit at night. Seems like it almost might be a bit too much. Also, I want my pocket clips to have the tail switch up when in a pocket or pack. Never owned an Olight, but I've always heard positive things about them.

Sure, a lot of that is personal preference, and this light isn't perfect, but the long press on the forward switch always brings the light on in moonlight, so there is none of that accidental 3am turbo. The forward switch is easy to find compared to some, but would be a challenge in gloves. There are a few things I don't like about it (primarily that the tail switch is not guarded), but while it may take a bit of getting use to, the interface is the best compromise I have found for my use.

I'm no light expert, but my carry light is a ThruNite t21, for most uses its fine. Although quick access to its 500 lumens is challenging. Id like to have a 500 lumen pocket light with the control setup of this light here.

That would be nice.

Wow, you're right, it sounds like they nailed it on the interface! I'm gonna have to get me one of these! I do wish it would tailstand (it looks like it won't), but I dunno for sure.

Yeah, the two things I don't like about it are both in the end cap. I would like the tail cap guarded and able to tail stand. I do worry about the tail switch firing accidentally (turbo mode). Time will tell if that is an issue.

Gun Sense (drmaudio) At least it will be noticeable if it does get bumped on! 😀 Does the tail cap do momentary on with a half-press? I assume so but that's a big deal for me.
@drmaudio6 жыл бұрын
Yes! Very noticeable! On the tail switch, a half press is momentary; a deep press is toggle on/off; and a deep press and hold is strobe. These always function the same regardless of the lights state prior to hitting the switch.
