I never picked up the first version because I was using headlamps for the same function with replacable batteries. Then Olight came out with the Pro and with the sale dropped it to a decent price. I got the Dragon theme one. I also realized i use the clip attachment more than a headband. I have my Oclip Pro clipped to my shirt every day. With the lifetime warranty, I'm not worried about the battery going dead eventually. A red light is a must have feature for me and this one has a much better red light beam and output than the Perun 2 mini. I'm happy with mine.👍

In defense of the red light! It's amazing for night hiking because you don't need much throw or flood, you just need to have the trail in front of you illuminated. And you won't ruin the night vision of oncoming hikers either! That's why the Perun Mini 2 and the Oclip Pro are my hiking/backpacking combo. (Oclip replaced an old UST branded headlamp in the rotation)

Yeah, the capability differences seem night and day and the size difference seems negligible. However, I get that just having more features doesn't always mean better

Comes down to weight v some extra features. The o clip is sufficient for most purposes.
