They would have been more successful Rodgers last year if he didn't go out of his way to alienate the rookies, he iced Watson out an entir😂 game because he dropped that one pass first game, then he always preferred older guys over younger guys, and he was also sabotaging the offense from day one. I blame 12 for most the offense struggles.

One thing to keep in mind the first half of the season last year is that he didn't have fully established veteran receivers to throw to. During his poor overall showing in the first half of the season, there were definitely flashes of what we saw later in the season. There was just as much growing pains with the core of very young receivers as there was for Love.

My thoughts exactly. Almost all the YT people I watch like QBschool, Kurt Warner etc were like, "... wtf are the receivers doing here? Either LaFleur can't draw up a play or these receivers aren't running the correct routes." You're talking about an offense who had never really played together, most of whom were 1st and 2nd year guys. Took about 10 weeks for them to get on the same page, but when they finally did ... Look out NFL, that's all I'll say about that.

Actually, it's not Love's "wrist action" that gets surprising power off the back foot. It's a trick I learned as a young tennis player hitting overhead shots - a scissors kick. Favre, Rodgers and now Love all do it. It's how you generate power in your throwing hand while leaning backwards. If you time it right, it's almost as good as stepping into the throw.

Go watch the Wicks TD play in the Dallas wildcard game, it’s all you need to know about where 10ve is at. He reads the defense, changes the play, adjusts the protection and then stands tall in the pocket waiting for what he saw to develop, then he throws a dime. That sort of pre snap diagnosis separates him from other young guys. Justin Fields is physically gifted but wasn’t reading defenses and his eyes were down looking at the pass rush, 10ve sees the field and makes the right decision. Just remember Brett Favre threw 200 more interceptions than Rodgers and he’s in the HoF. Every QB throws picks

He made an ever better read/throw a few weeks prior in the Vikings game. They had a rotational cover 2 (started with a cover 3), Love got them to tip there hand early, called an audible, and chucked a dime to Jayden Reed for like 30-40 yards right down the deep middle of the cover 2. Just phenominal

on the second play, against Detroit, it's well established that Watson ran the wrong route. It should be a triple slant concept but he for some reason runs an out and almost bumps into Reed. Luckily it didn't blew up in their face

I don't want to discredit Love, he was incredible in that stretch, but man LaFleur deserved some CoTY chatter, after three years of "is he just carried by Rodgers ability" he proved he's absolutely an elite playcaller in this league.

What’s encouraging is Jordan Love got better as the season progressed. After three years on the bench you expect a little rust. If he had started out hot, then faded towards seasons end I’d be far less optimistic. But I agree, we’ll know by the end of September if it was a fluke or he’s the real deal….

Jordan Love is my pick for breakout QB next season. We didn't really see it in the plays selected, but his decision making when under pressure is incredible. We saw some of that during the season but it shone in the post-season, especially against Dallas. The pocket would collapse around him, no way out, and he'd move, pick a target and get the ball out on target in under a second. Add that onto everything highlighted above, and he'll be a top 5 QB.

Jordan Love threw to his first read 77% of the time. That's the #1 highest, We can't tell what portion of his success is because his coaches are play calling incredibly well. Patrick Mahomes is 27th ranked on passes to his first read Josh Allen is 31st Stroud was 31st Dak is 16th Not saying Jordan Love isn't good but his first read is 77% of his passes which is INCREDIBLY high. It's almost a record amount of first read passes, only behind Tua in 2021. So his work is made easy by his first read is very quick and easy and he doesn't have the success in extended plays like others do. It's not a knock against him because he doesn't need to wait. What this number does hide is HOW amazing he might be at pre-snap reads and knows which guy is likely to be open and makes him his first read. So his ability of knowing how the defense is going to play against his play calling allows him to be successful.
@sputnikalgrim
@sputnikalgrim 2 ай бұрын
Go watch the Wicks TD in the wildcard game again. Watch him pre snap. You’re absolutely right about him reading the defense. If all these young WRs take another step and get even more synchronized with him it’s going to be scary. Rodgers was still playing inside the system when he won his ring, being off schedule isn’t the only way to measure greatness. I’m not saying Love is Rodgers, I’m merely saying the plays are what they are, he still had to make every throw, and as it stands right now Favre threw 200+ more interceptions than Rodgers and he has a yellow jacket. Let the kid play before you rip him

The Reed TD on Thanksgiving was even more amazing when you realize that Watson ran the wrong route. He goes and puts his hands on his head at the end realizing he was supposed to run a slant as its a triple slant route. Watson is supposed to take the CB and MLB with him and it goes easily behind to Reed.

Jordan love is easily top 10 QB in the league. The games Jordan Love struggled was without Aaron Jones which you guys stated and Christian Watson missed a bunch of games due to injuries. Those two guys are big difference makers. Also Jordan love had to throw to a young group of receivers mostly rookies and 2nd year players. Also his # 1 Tight end was hurt for a significant amount of time as well. The mere fact Jordan Love was able to overcome those obstacles and post top 5 QB stats is a good enough argument for him to be a top 10 QB. I dare you guys to name me 10 QB that could have posted better stats and lead this young Packers team to the playoffs like Jordan Love did.

The reason Love looks a little like Favre, and a little like Rodgers, is because of one of the best QBs in CFL history tuned best NFL QB coach in history, Tom Clements. From Wikipedia: “During Clements time as the quarterbacks coach with the Packers, he has worked with starting quarterbacks: Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and Matt Flynn.” “On February 17, 2022, Clements came out of retirement and joined the Green Bay Packers as the quarterbacks coach again, this time under head coach Matt LaFleur.”
