Oliva serie v double toro New world budget cigar review

Hello and welcome to another episode of RateMyCigar.
Today I am going to be reviewing a fantastic New world cigar by the very popular Oliva brand.
One which I've been pleasantly surprised with, it has some great Nicaraguan notes! this cigar is one which everyone should try and enjoy!

I've picked up alot of earth flavors in the beginning. Still one of my go to sticks.

Had this in a double robusto for New Years with some Champagne and my wife and I loved it. Definitely sweet, dark chocholate/cocoa, espresso and earth. Very smooth, like you said some pepper at the begining but then it totally goes away. Prices in the UK for new world are insane unfortunately otherwise I'd smoke these all the time. Padron 2000 is very similar to this but even more mass appealing, sweater and more cocoa.

I'm currently loving the oliva master 3 blend. Really good stick imo.

I quite enjoy the Oliva Serie V. After having smoked a number of Cubans when I first started I noticed I spit a lot. Maybe because I've stopped smoking cigarettes since 2017 and started cigars in 2020 and my nicotine tolerance was low. But the Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro was the first cigar I didn't experience any spitting. I reckon the Melanio is a little more refined and delicate than the standard Serie V and I prefer the Maduro versions maybe because I am a huge fan of the San Andres wrapper. Maybe those dark, coffee and chocolatey flavours is what I prefer but then again I haven't tried many Cuban Maduro cigars. These Oliva cigars aren't too expensive if purchased in the US and I often grab a bunch so that I don't reach for my Cubans that I'm trying to age. It's a go-to smoke for me.

Ive noticed how close you have the lighter to the foot of the cigar. I was always led to believe you shouldn't toast it that close, so interested to know your thoughts.

It looks a lot closer than it actually is on that angle You should use the heat of the flame, not the actual flame to toast a cigar

Of the eight i’ve tried, have never had a ‘ok these are good’ Oliva or Nub cigar. Not terrible, though definitely sub-par. Will keep trying as hoping to find a diamond in the rough for this brand. EPC, JG, Liga, Tatuaje, My Father, Drew Estate, Ashton, Padron, Arturo Fuente & Davidoff for old/new worlds plus others remain miles ahead imho.

These are one of my favorite of cigars I love the series V but I just can't get on with the other blends. 👍

Let them sit for awhile.. they get better.. in the United States they are very affordable.. Maybe that makes them taste better lol.. but they occasionally are transcendent

In the US you can get these for the equivalent of about 10 quid. Crazy how expensive these are in the UK.
