Very nice Vladimir! Like the way you build the hot-spot into your fly rather than adding it as "an after thought" the way many tie them. Hank

Thank you. Mostly i would do it at the end, but with these materials i can make this nice colour transition which i like. Personally i can fish with 10 patterns all the time. But i get bored after fishing the same fly for too long, so i need to fill boxes with new flies which i test and enjoy. Pheasant tails are the only constant flies in my boxes.

Davie McPhail had a good solution for squeaky bobbin. Rub the knobs of the bobbin on the sides of your nose, like you do on your rod sections(to keep them from sticking). Your nose grease is just the right amount of lube to eliminate the squeak.

Vladimir - I love your ties and the whole channel. Thanks for sharing your skills and creativity! QUESTION: What can I do about UV varnish that makes my flies too dark. I'm aware that lots of tying threads will darken, but my UV even makes the body quill too dark. I've tried putting white thread underneath but it doesn't improve it enough. I use Bug Off brand varnish and it's 2 years old. Too old? Can you recommend a brand? etc.? Thanks!

will doing the wingcase on top of the fly make a big difference?
@Oholisfliesandfishing4 жыл бұрын
Honestly i never tested it on this fly.... But most flies i fished with great success didnt have it. So i guess it wont make a difference... But just for the truth sake, some mayflies habe distinct dark wingcases just before hatch.... So in theory it may be a trigger point... Personally i believe, presentation size, general coloration are most important factors...

And side doesnt matter... Not a bit... Even some top class competitors i know think the same
