It does indeed look stunning. I like how your approach to your videos is evolving, they’re not only great to watch with a coffee but I learn so much as well; clear and concise and just beautifully done. I often think I wish I’d watched this before I did X, Y or Z!

I really appreciate that feedback Jamie, that’s really great to hear, thanks. I was worried people may not like the new approach in this video but the feedback has been really kind so I’m going to concentrate on getting this style and format as good as I can make it. I always look forward to your comments Jamie so any suggestions you may have for improvements are always welcome too!👍

Thanks for the kind comment, I really appreciate it. The neck is definitely the more difficult part to build but there are lots of ways to make it easier. Things like pre-cut fretboards can be a good idea for your first neck.

Man you're going to catch me on the subscribers! I'm really glad its going good for you brother. I love this guitar design and I'm sure it's going to be just lovely when you're done. I can't wait to see it! I agree with what you said about building. The talent is in the design. Pretty much anyone that wants to build a guitar, can do so with the desire to do so. It creates so much joy in my life to do it. It's challenging and just an absolutely beautiful craft to be involved in. The other huge benefit is belonging to this community. Everyone is lovely and I'm so proud to be a part of this with you. You and I may be trying to build a brand but anyone can benefit from building their own instrument. It's so satisfying to complete a build and play it. It's really magical. You do really nice work Gio! Peace my brother. Great video. ✌️

I’d love to get to 1000, I so hope it happens! And thanks Todd, your right, design is the most difficult part to be 100% happy with. I’m so glad to be part of this community too, I hope it stays the positive place it is right now! 👍✌️

I couldn’t agree more about this community Todd. Its rare you get something like this where everyone is treated the same irrespective of experience and rarer still, (as far as i can tell) no trolls! And I can’t thank everyone who shares what they do and how they do it enough for the inspiration, help and support.

Very pleased to see olive working well as I have read it has ‘poor stability and moves in service.’ Fabulous grain and natural lustre - not just chopping board material! 👍🏼🎸 love your new body designs. Do you have an offset, too?
@TornelliGuitars2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind comment, I really appreciate it! And yes, I have an offset design that I’ll be making after building the single and double cutaway designs.

I agree with your appraisal of olive wood as neck/frretboard material; it seems to work quite well. Do you have a target thickness for the fretboard prior to sanding in the radius?
@TornelliGuitars2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David, yes I use the same dimensions each time; 6mm for the fretboard and 20mm for the neck.

Looking great ! Are you not concerned that the wood will move after carving thus ruining the fret leveling job ? Is this a non issue or are the carbon rods that good ?
@TornelliGuitars2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment 👍 I’ve done it this way on the last few necks I’ve made and it has been fine. I always double check with a fret rocker before I start crowning just to make sure, but so far I haven’t had any issues.
@borgonianevolution2 жыл бұрын
That Olive is gorgeous. I love how meticulous you are about your work. Iknow alot of other people are just as persistent in their measuring and cutting but some seem very ham fisted when doing the work. Seems you have a nice touch with the wood working. So calm and relaxed. Now does that Olive get treated like Maple and needs to be hard coated or does it get oiled like other fretboard woods? If it gets oiled I may look into it for my first attempt at a neck next year. I have a nice chunk of Rock Maple that would do nicely with some darker wood in a design I am working out over time. SUPER SECRET stuffs man!
@TornelliGuitars2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bill, I look forward to your comments buddy. I do feel totally relaxed when I’m completely immersed in a build, it’s like therapy for me because I take the time I need on everything and never rush. I guess the workshop is my peaceful place!😀 And the olive should be fine with just oil, that’s my plan. Looking forward to hearing your secret plans, when is that coming?
@borgonianevolution2 жыл бұрын
@@TornelliGuitars Not until next GGBO most likely. Its going to be pretty intricate if it is possible to do do what is in my head. May require some of them fancy woods you big boy builders use to pull off.

I wonder why it's so uncommon? Much stronger than maple, about the same as rosewood. I would imagine it's much cheaper than some other fretboard woods...am i missing something here?
@TornelliGuitars Жыл бұрын
Its about the same price as rosewood but nowhere near as abundant in most places. To get olive pieces large enough for a neck blank is not an easy task in most countries. It’s also heavier than most woods. However it is extremely hard, really pretty (imo), and feels fantastic when it’s polished up and oiled. I’m going to continue using it for as long as I can source it because I absolutely love it. 👍
