In our area John Deere was the big sales company And family relations So hearing about the Oliver line is very interesting to me being a farmer for 30 years But I also see the changes in the John Deere line of equipment like you do for Oliver Both brands were very good

Impact Drivers and hollow ground bits are life savers on flathead machine screws.

I have had one of those hand impacts for years, essential for bikes. The HF one is just as good as any. I bought some JIC bits for mine for Japanese bikes.

The design of the second transmission does seem better. I have a Snap-on impact driver and they are nice. I think the tool brand itself isn’t as important as the bits.

Good bits are about impossible to find anymore.

Those cheap ones work just fine. Just use that impact driver till you break it and then buy a different one. All that stuff you do if you made it this long without one that one will last you decades or more probably. I don't do have the mechanical stuff you do and have had the HF one for years and it works Everytime I need it. I have used a Mac (maybe MatCo) one and it worked just as good as my HF one. I used to borrow one from my buddy who is a mechanic at Ford before I bought the HF one for myself.

Or…. And hear me out because I know this is a difficult concept to understand for Americans who for some reason love their cheap Chinese shit. Support a small American manufacturer who has been making hand tools in Pennsylvania since 1950 and is still run by the same family.

@Oliver66FarmBoy fair enough. If one has the means to do so. I personally can't afford to pay the price for American tools. Especially for the impact driver. I use it most commonly on outboards. To take the screw out of the lower units for the oil fill/drain or when separating the foot to reseal/rebuild them. I know I have used it on other things but I can't use my tools as a business expense as I do not work for myself but I also don't have the income level to buy these random tools in the American flavor. If I could I might have different opinions. I do at times but american when I can justify it. I am glad there are people who can.
