It does. I'm also a tone and frequency guy. Meaning, I believe certain tones, melodies, and frequencies induce our emotion. So his words, combined with the melody and sound tuning drives the words to be stronger and harder hitting. A heavy metal song of the same words wouldn't hit the same if you catch my drift.

I think maybe he made a mistake by basically copying the visual setting in which the video was recorded. i would have recommended using a totally different setting because this whole visual just automatically invites comparisons to Oliver Anthony. I think Oliver Anthony is more rough. Nolan has a smoother voice. The Nolan guitar is standard tuning. Oliver drop tunes to get more twang out of his already different sounding gretsch (could be wrong on the brand. Don't want to check. Lol). Oliver writes his songs with small verses and catchy chorus. Nolan seems to write more of a story. The chorus is secondary. All this being said, I love both of their music. Speaks to my soul. I don't think competition is the right word because I will be listening to both of them but only when I'm in the mood for one or the other. I'm not going to say I want to listen to backwoods country and then not be able to choose. Just my $0.02.

Nolan doesn't have competition from Oliver Anthony. He can actually write a song with quality lyrics and gain fans without the Daily Wire propping him up. The saddest thing that happened to him was Anthony's music being inflated by hacks and drowning him out when he should have blown up.
@bobbyfsacco
@bobbyfsacco 10 ай бұрын
Though I see what you're trying to say, I disagree with the part about Daily Wire or "hacks" being the only ones propping him up which gave him the fame. That song spread like wildfire regardless because it spoke to the soul and pain of what many are feeling which is the enslavement of their jobs and 40+ hour workweeks and expected to appreciate the life they have. Its a vicious cycle and most of us have felt it... But Nolan Taylor is amazing is his own right. This song made me realize that.

I think both bring unique talent to music with different messaging and styles. Voice wise I’d agree, but OA certainly has a spot that’s earned.

@@bobbyfsacco I agree. I've been following Nolan for quite some time now so I may be kind of biased. Lol. Honestly, Rich Men North of Richmond is the only song of OA's that I've heard and liked. That's just my opinion though.

@davidilbery3330 I totally get it. I haven’t heard any other song of his to be honest.

You hear hippy in this? I didn’t hear that at all. Visually I can see that point, but the song feels more “folk meets old school country” to me than anything.
