Ten years sober! Used to drink to black out levels to drown the pain I carry. The load gets so hard sometimes. If not for my faith and love for Jesus Christ my lord and Savior I would not be here.

Well, the life we've been given and the way we've been livin' That's the song that we write 'til we die Now some people write songs on livin' just right But I write mine on just getting by I'll go on a whim, start writing the hymn That sounds so sweet But the troubles and the sin of the world that we're in Knock me back off my feet I gotta get sober I gotta start livin' right I don't know how it's gonna go But it ain't gonna happen tonight So pour 'em down strong 'Til I drown And if I wake up tomorrow When that sun comes back around I'll be wishing I was sober Well, the liquor and the bowl, they've been saving my soul From the pain that the world's put on me Lord, I know that upstairs there's an old man who cares And one day he'll set me free I'll go on a whim, start writing the hymn The sound so sweet But the troubles and the sin of the world that we're in Knock me back off my feet I gotta get sober I gotta start livin' right I don't know how it's gonna go But it ain't gonna happen tonight So pour 'em down strong 'Til I drown And if I wake up tomorrow When that sun comes back around I'll be wishing I was sober Well, the life we've been given and the way we've been livin' That's the song that we write 'til we die

This is a great song, it needed to be re recorded... I've been sober for almost 30 years. It was not worth it. I can't go back to drinking and here in Reno, NV ... there aint chit for sober people. AA here is a dictatorship of bleeding deacons who deliberately obfuscated the Big Book for their own money, property and prestige. Sobriety is isolation and extremely pointless. Great song tho, I love the crickets in the other version too.

I REALLY love this. For obvious reasons, the original will always be 'the favorite' for most... but I really appreciate having a new 'Oliver Anthony Studio Version' album to be able to get a record when it comes out, and I appreciate the subtle changes you made here and there (like numbing vs. saving in this song) that really tie together the theme of having the great snippets of scripture throughout. It's just a great work man. Everyone playing and the people mixing it deserves kudos. Great blending.
