Enjoy the privilege of working to earn a living. I have been severely underemployed since late-January of this year. I am currently only working one or two days a month, waiting for another part-time or full-time job assignment that never comes (I’m approaching 60 years of age). As long as you are able to work and earn some money, focus on enjoying the little things in life, such as spirit-lifting comfort foods, listening to your favorite music, watching your favorite movies, television shows, and sporting events, walking in the park or sitting on a park bench or log, breathing in clean, fresh air, and watching the birds fly by, the animals move by, and the fish swimming by in a pond, lake, or river. Enjoy these little things in life while your health still permits you to do so.

I'm 69 and life has always been hard, sometimes better sometimes worse. We are definitely in a down time. One of the main reasons is the printing of more money which dilutes the supply thus it's worth less. This has been going on since the 1970's when we went off of the gold standard which used to back up the value of the dollar. It also causes inflation because of the law of supply and demand. If there is more money in the system the ability to buy goes up ( demand ), the supply goes down, then the price goes up. It's Economy 101, the first class in college Economy classes. I'm sure there are other things involved but these are the basics. Take care everyone.

What a lovely reaction by both of you to this anthem for the working man and woman. It is not about any race other than the rat-race. I loved how Steph used that term. And yes, a whole lot of people are sick and tired of this. And add in the most terrible tax of all, the inflation that is making our paychecks buy less and less and less. Thank you both.

We all agree on this song and it’s meaning. I believe God raised this man up to send us all a message. (By the way, the lyric references both miners and minors.). Yes we are like a cog in a wheel and there is little we can do to change it except vote but even that is questionable now since some shady stuff happening with that as well.

Absolutely, you know it’s sad when you don’t want to work too much overtime even if it’s offered to you because they’ll take a bigger portion of it and it doesn’t pay off. You’d think the more you’d work the less they’d take to incentivize all to want to work more and be happier working more. Absolutely not the damn case. It’s sickening. Once the middle class dies, America follows shortly after.

He is talking about coal miners who take huge risks underground, then a lot of them suffer, become disabled from lung disease from breathing in coal dust.
