All the old school actors are the best. Only ones I can think of left are Clint Eastwood and Anthony Hopkins. Maybe Stallone. And the likes of De Niro ruined it by being a flaming SJW. The older actors had class and didn't have agendas. They knew their place and got on with it.
@redplague4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's so generic. Maybe they are just so afraid of getting into trouble that they essentially just act in the interview. Although recently I saw an interview with Guy Ritchie and Kristen Stewart (not together) and people in the comments were slagging them off for being awkward. That's what they're really like! That's a good thing!

Ollie is very close to my heart. He was one of my Father's favorite actors. Once my Dad got drunk and angry and kicked my tricycle while I was riding it and I fell down the stairs still hanging on to it. I was three. He didn't mean to, but caused me a deep cut below the chin that needed surgery You can barely see the scar now, but for years, while I was a little girl, it looked really scary. You could see all the stitches marks and it extended to the sides of my face. I would watch Ollie's movies with my Father, and my Dad would point out at his face and say: "See? He's got scars on his face and he is tough and cool, and everyone loves him". "But I'm a girl, Dad...". "It doesn't matter", he'd say. "No one messes with him and no one will mess with you". The scar became virtually invisible, but my Dad always felt guilty about it, and for the rest of his life, he would touch it every time he was near me, even on his death bed. The booze killed him. Thank you Ollie for being a bond between me and my Dad. I hope he is with you in Heaven.

Bless him. I agree with his beautiful voice... Beautiful smile... Charismatic.... His presence is amazing.... The second after he walks down the stairs before he says "If I give you my sword, will you give me your heart".... You can just feel the EXCITMEMT and anticipation from the crowd. I honestly don't believe an actor has stolen that from his audience since Oliver and probably never will. Long live Ollie xxxxxxxx

As a nine year old girl viewing the movie "Oliver" for the first time on a class excursion (it was 1981 btw), I was absolutely terrified of him as Bill Sikes. Watching the movie many years later as a young adult, my heart skipped a beat at the scene of Bill Sikes' entrance into the pub as Nancy is singing. There is a moment when he turns to her and raises a slight smile, and then I noticed those striking, blue eyes. That was it, I was in love!

you mention his nice speaking voice-- as an American who was introduced to him when 7 years old in Oliver! and then seeing him not long after that one Saturday afternoon on television in The Shuttered Room, you grow up thinking he is probably gruff and boorish --and even though you like it, still, it was interesting to find he had the intellect and sensibilities of an O'Toole

Yeah actually apparantly he was. I know he was/is a legened and I'll be slated for saying this by some die hard O Reed fans but the main reason he was such a larger than life character was because he was drunk all the time. I'm sure if many people turned up to their TV interviews plastered they would appear more outrageous and entertaining. What Im saying is maybe the drunk Oliver Reed was the real legend.
