As a fellow non-conformist I love and respect this great gentleman with a deep appreciation for all that he's about. Question everything? and never ever stop thinking things through for our world will be better for it. Conforming without inquiring its not a life worth living.

Oliver Stone, a great man great artist. Love listening to him talk. Endlessly fascinating and often infuriating, irritating and wrong. I've seen all his movies and adore so many and hate a bunch of them too. But he's an education and so inspiring and I hope he never stops til he drops. And what's next? A movie on Snowden and the NSA. Hope he hits that with both barrels.

The way people or the public misunderstand what the core message is in a film or what directors are saying is so valuable in telling you that people see what they want to see and that people avoid the truth about each of us.
@annalisavajda252
@annalisavajda252 2 жыл бұрын
Yes well people have biases and limitations to their perspectives and should maybe just avoid intellectual or educational films if all they want is entertainment nothing thought provoking or philosophical. When he does just a more "fun" film though that offends some expectations too I think he is bold enough to just not care since he knows he can't please everyone. Personally many "popular" films bore me terribly anyway no art to them.

You gotta someone who's justified in their confidence. I admire that he's made so many films, that got a lot of people talking, though I don't think many of them are very good. As a historian, an intellectual, and a human, all respect to Oliver Stone.

The cool thing about Stone is, even if i dont always agree with his conclusions in some of stuff, it cant be denied how well made his films are. He has made movies that i didnt like, was indifferent to, and loved. JFK and Natural Born Killers are so well made, and i happen to love them. The Doors also just great and artfully done.

Luther Baldwin fraternized with people who did not know the language and the ethical standards required to uphold the principles of the constitution. On July 27, 1798, President John Adams and the First Lady were belittled by a drunkard coming out of a tavern, and the drunk Luther Baldwin used the same words to change the momentous home trip of the First family into a folly. The alien and sedition act is quite similar to this situation because during the time when the Great masterpiece film, Platoon, was completed, the new members into our well constructed society were beginning to learn how to use the proper language to fit into what we uphold are true to our human nature. So, Mr. Oliver Stone, you should feel very proud that you have stayed true to all our principles. One man CAN NOT know everything even when some people can accomplish so much like you have, sir.

'The Greatest Generation' was written by a newsman who is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, check out those war mongers. I recalled the other day reading a 'Dennis the Menace Comic book' in the late 50's early 60's where the family goes out west on vacation, and they end up watching an atmospheric nuclear test in Nevada. Several comic book pages are dedicated to a huge nuclear cloud, and they patriotized it in a fourth of July theme! I wasn't 8 yet but thought what bullshit. Kuznick, and Stones' 615 plus pg. 'Untold History of the U.S.' with notes, and index is very complete and thorough in scope. They don't steer you wrong, as G. Vidal says it can increase the American 10 min. attention span. More in depth reading should include H. Zinn 'A People's History of the U.S.' - way off from K-12 school spin, MSM, approved party politic.

Interesting how what Stone says about his film Wall Street, about the Gordon Gecko character becoming a banker, that is pretty much what happened when the market crashed in 2006. Is what happened when the banks are intermingled with the investment firms.

newspapers are not allowed in our home except for starting a fire, there are no news programs allowed also, with the total agreement of my children, it all stopped when my boy at 4 years old came running into the baby room screaming in fear they are bombing America, he saw a newspaper at the newsagent & wanted to know what is a man raped a little baby on the front cover, my children get all the news themselves & even I find out the news through other people, none that I worry about unless it somehow causes me concern

Sometime during the Kennedy era. JFK signed into effect the TVA act. Putting the nails in the coffin of hopes my family had of getting land. The family reached out to a distant relative named George C. Wallace of Albama. We do believe George had a talk with JFK inn Muscle Shoals but it fell on deaf ears! Sometime after that JFK publicly humiliated George C. Wallace. My family had 300 acers of land that was taken illegally by the government in Land Between The Lakes! Our family wanted retribution

Stone, in all of his interviews, sees problems in many areas to be resolved. However, Stone never deals adequately with the problem of the high leverage rates in the big banks as a major part of resolving the nation's problems. Wish that he could get there in some way. Wars have to continue insuring the US dollar is maintained as the worlds reserve currency.

Funny the interviewers when they're naming his film credits, they never mention/include: "Salvador?"...and that's the one that put him on the "map" as a director!🤔 it also got James Woods an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Hey wait a minute I think I was here! Tickets were sold out I bought one for an Adam Sandler movie instead watched abt five minutes of it thot WTH went upstairs and (whispers) snuck in. Or no it was a screening of Platoon. I used to watch Platoon CONSTANTLY as an 18 yr old college kid in Chicago I had a mad crush on Kevin Dillon talked about him constantly. At this screening I remember security was on a presidential level practically this big guy was walking toward me I was scared shitless thot I had gotten caught ultimately he passed me I can't tell you my relief I could feel my heart slowing way down literally

When in walks Oswald. Mac immedeately stands up and walks toward the door. Oswald inquisitively asking what are you doing here? Mac punched him across the face. Oswald went down and by the time he woke up, Mac had told someone "There's a man up there with a gun" And the fatal shots had been fired! Mac did run to my Great Uncles position at the grassy knoll with a gardening bagin hand. As Mac was running he held the bag open.

Oliver will you ever tell the real truth about who really inspired the platoon movie back in 1976 in NYC It was PFC Dingle who wrote "I've served my time in hell" & served in a real Bravo co 2nd platoon. The real truth had to be concealed in order to make platoon. If Dingle had not written his grunt's eye view of the Vietnam war there would've not been a movie called platoon.You know it,but the world doesn't know it. The platoongate will make a great movie,but it will never happen.

It's such a pity that after Alexander (which despite its flaws, was a wonderful effort), Stone's movies went downhill (possible exception: "W"), because he is fascinating to listen to. He should stick to documentaries, books and interviews. He reminds me of George Carlin, and I have a feeling he'll go just like Carlin did, uncompromisingly and intelligently shouting his views until the last minute with a foot in his grave.
