Today I'm going to be talking about all things Mechanical Engineering. Hopefully by the end of this video you are able to understand a little bit more about what Mechanical Engineers do. If you know someone who you think could find a video like this useful, feel free to share it with them and help them out too!
Mechanical Engineers are very smart people, they learn a lot of different fields of physics from Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Kinematics and Dynamics they know a lot about many different branches of physics. Generally speaking they do lots of design work and you can work for a lot of cool companies.

1. Always take the job with a higher salary over the one offering stock option, RSU's, bonuses, and other "compensation". Salary is KING...you may not realize this until you start applying for a mortgage! 2. Change companies every 2-3 years to keep your salary competitive. Don't get comfortable or your salary will pay the price. This is coming from a mechanical engineer who worked at AMAT for 17 years and found after being promoted to a manager, I was making $117k in 2017 while my direct reports were making $150k. =( The more you stick to the above, the more money you'll save while youre young which will have a longer time to compound over the years leading to a faster retirement. Good luck!

What is lacking with Mechanical Engineers today, is the knowledge of how to design mechanisms correctly. Did know that there's a mathematical formula that can be used for all mechanism designs? It's called Gruebler's Count. I found a way to make it practical for all 3D mechanisms. Here's the link if you are interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXelaZqDn913hs0

Do u guys think it’d be easier for a person to study engineering in their native language? I’m not studying engineering, but having to do public speaking and wrap my head around complex themes is hard for me, especially as a person that suffers from social anxiety. So, if I think of pursuing an engineering career in the future should I just transfer to a university that teaches it in my native langue? (I think that’s the way to go, since engineers have to work on projects and communicate effectively and use a lot of technical words.) Btw thanks Oliver for the videos. They’re really helpful and give me a better insight on the engineering industry.
@remy7663
@remy7663 2 жыл бұрын
Of course it'll be easier, but getting a degree abroad also has its advantages. Whether it's worth it depends on how proficient are you in that second language. If it's English and English isn't your native language it shouldn't be that much harder. But if you're trying to study engineering in like German or Dutch or China while being a non native it'll definitely be **much** harder.

It depends on the country you want to study in. I live in the United States. If you want to study in the United States. I would suggest submitting your transcripts and apply for admission. After you get accepted, apply for either a teaching or researching assistant. This will allow you to get your tuition and fees waved, plus a small monthly stipend. May God bless you be successful.

GPA is the key difference between BS & MS Engineering. You can graduate with 2.0 GPA and get a BS Engineering degree. Whereas u are required to meet minimum 3.0 GPA throughout your graduate studies. Graduate school allow a maximum of 2 C’s to continue and graduate or otherwise u are out of the program. Whereas undergrad schools require minimum 2.0 to graduate. This is a huge difference between BS & MS Engineering and make the MS way more difficult than BS. Graduate level courses assume u meet the prerequisites, otherwise it’s a waste of time and money because u would not be able to catchup. Even advanced mathematics assume u are well versed in Calc 1,2,3. As an example, u would not be able to handle graduate level structural or system dynamic analysis or graduate level vibrations courses without the prerequisites. You would not be able to pass FFT without command in calculus as an example. You would not able to handle stress analysis and FEA without the prerequisite u are required to complete. Universities regular issue quarterly or semester schedule with list of courses and prerequisites. Never never ever try to jump over the prerequisites or suffer.
