Impressive energy levels after a fairly punishing journey! I was lucky to discover this channel after my first visit to Abruzzo [ mostly Sulmona ] a couple of months ago and I shall enjoy seeing your project progress through these well-made and good-humoured videos. Thanks and seasons greetings.

What a surprise! I found this channel by chance… I was born 200 meters from your house, just few steps after La Fonte Restaurant… I don’t live there but every summer I spend one or two week there… in august mainly… hope to meet you there to tell you thank you for your videos 😄👍👏👏

Those walnuts are long gone. They should be light brown and taken immediately when they fall from the tree… We use like an applepicker with a small basket at the top to pick them. works great. olives and walnuts on the farm - how nice can life be! Good luck!

Thank you so much for watching. Unfortunately we arrive a little late in the season and did not have anything to reach them. Luckily, we were and to pick and enjoy about 25 walnuts!

I love following along, but with olives, you have to pickle the, olives cannot be eaten from the tree, and you can collect them and take them somewhere to be pressed. Please pick them and pickle them if you have time.

Thank you for watching Christine! I learned the hard way that they have to be pickled first. I don’t think I’ll have time to press them and is is such a small amount. I told me friends and neighbors that they are welcome to them! Ciao!

Hi, wellcome back in Italy!!! Luckely for you, this is a strange fall for all Italy...the weather it's too hot, usually in this season in those places it's taining if not snowing. but the weather is changing and in north Italy yesterday night it has snow...So get ready ... About the olives I don't think that you can use them even for the oil. For the walnuts you are just un time: shake the tree...( if you come in June, im Saint Giovanni day you can take the new walnuts and make a good nocino, I think that every one knows how to do it over there... Where is Pluto???

Hi Monica! Thank you for watching. We have had great luck with the pleasant weather. I think our olive tree will just be considered decorative although the burn great in the fireplace. We were able to get a few more walnuts. We’ve eaten and shared so many already from such a small tree. I will definitely have to try to make nocino. I was beat this June and it would have been perfect. Maybe next year! Ciao!

Fabulous!! Seems so warm still. What is the average temperature in Dec and Jan? And how do you heat your home? As for the walnuts, a nice size tarp around the base of the tree, shake and shake. Then at least they will fall on the tarp and easy to pick up instead of trying to find them on the ground. Might work. Looking forward to the next video.

Thank for watching and the great advice Marco. The weather now is not too cold, but coming from south Florida it is cold. We have never been here during December or January I hear it is very cold. We have no real heating other than a fireplace right now. I’ll send you a link about how we handled the cold in March. We are going to have to find a tarp for the walnuts. I would not mind picking up from the ground but the tree hangs over the remnants of an old stone barn with crevices and thorny blackberries. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iquUo2WZqLyqn9U

We use nets or tarps around the tree. You can use long handle plastic rakes to scrape off olives, nuts etc. pretty easy to do. Enjoy your stay in Italy. We will be heading to abruzzo next June July. Can’t wait.

Thank Nick! I wish we had a few more trees to make it worth it. Maybe down the road. After we work on the house we will be able to start planing a proper garden. I have some ideas and a friendly neighbor even tested pH of the soil for us. This will give us some direction of what to plant. Have a safe trip back to Abruzzo. I look forward to hearing about it 😀

i don't think there is such a thing as an eating olive off the tree ..you have to brine and cure first .

Thank you for watching! Yeah I was pretty sure that was the case with olives… I’m still learning but was curious to try. I did speak to the local butcher who has over 200 trees in the area and he explained that these olives are used only for the oil. Not sure how much I could yield from one tree. Either way, the tree represents is a warm welcome home to Italy.

Oh, if you are still in time, go to buy some wood for your stowe because now the gas is becoming really expencive!!!

@@cerchiamo I don't think that .as now, the gas price will go down so soon... I think that, considering that your house is in south Itsly, I'll take some solar pannels...The solar and the wood will help you with the electricity and with the heat... I don't know in the USA, but in Italy, unfortunately, a lot of electricity is produced by gas...so...
