A fun and interesting interview with Olivia Brown "Trudy," who just recently turned 57 years old in April. Also the youngest cast member on Vice. She was right about her "prediction" on how long Miami Vice would last, when Letterman asked her. Saying "About two more years." :-) Other cast members like Saundra Santiago and Philip Michael Thomas mentioned 7 and 9 years that the show would or could last/go on. But it ended in the right decade. It just wouldn't have had the same vibe and atmosphere that was in the 80's, if the show had continued into the 90's.

Miami Vice wouldn't have been Miami Vice had it turned into and looked something like "Law and Order" for instance, Dick Wolf TV series. As the show was coming closer to entering a new decade, Season 5 already gave an idea of how it would or could have been with it's darker tone and style. At that time ratings were bad plus especially DJ wanted to move on to other things and they had reached 100 episodes to go into syndication, so I guess all of those things played a role to why it ended. And yeah good point you made with the Miami Vice movie.

yeah your rite...but for me i thought season five was pretty classy....tubbs dresscode changed abit so did the music...apart from some crappy episodes...and i didnt mind the dark tone and style...it was like they matured alot more, compared to theyre heyday in 84/85

Yeah, I have wondered, why she wasn't asked/or if she was to come on the show Nash Bridges, as other cast members such as Philip Michael Thomas and John Diehl had short parts. And even guest stars from Miami Vice. But she was in other well known TV shows.

This was an extremely good interview with her. I'm not sure I've ever saw her being interviewed before. I always had a crush (yes crush) on her back in the day. She seems to nice and genuine.

Yeah, I also really enjoyed it. And she has been a guest on Leno's show too, but I've only seen pic's of that. I thought her voice sounded different in this interview, from how her character on Vice sounds. I know that DJ altered his voice for the character.

In other interviews and quotes I've seen previously, Olivia Brown always seemed very factual & realistic when discussing "Miami Vice", and that's no different here. I never knew she was on Letterman before; this was a treat.

I thought she played the character very well on Miami Vice, so much so that I was surprised by her quite affable demeanor. Watch the reruns to this very day and have the DVDs as well. Shocking how quickly time passes (don't blink)...

There is a pic of Olivia at some event wearing a similar leather jacket and skirt only in green. i.imgur.com/jFK3bI5.jpg I noticed there wasn't any music playing, as she entered the studio, interesting how it all was back then. Watching David Letterman's show while it was still on air, I was used to the music playing by Paul Shaffer and his band, when a guest entered and the studio didn't look like that with bad lighting. A small detail, the hot pink outfit is matching Letterman's blue cup. The show's Miami Vice logo colors. :-)
