But they always say '"passed away peacefully". Well I know fellow patients of Mum that weren't so 'lucky', crying out in pain. My mum died in my arms in 1999, a shadow of the strong midwife she was, just staring at me, until she passed away. People say 'the last breath' - It is real, but not like in the movies.. The last breath was exhaled after she died, a guess a minute later. Shocking. The only consolation I have is that she stared at me, and a few hours earlier I was the only person she accepted that offered her a cola, by straw. How she even accepted me as the only person she would accept any liquid food from in her last hours has been a mystery to me. Maybe it was just my voice, my smell, or maybe it was nothing. I don't know, but I'm still heartbroken by this event. The person that put me on the world died. I couldn't grasp it then and can't grasp it now.. 😢😢

@@janverboven My sentiments exactly. For some lucky souls their departure from this realm is indeed peaceful but for others definitely not. Like, you, I'm forever 'affected' by being bedside to my dutch/Indonesian father, along with rest of our family. The healing is ongoing and will likely never be done. I know for sure, how I don't want to die, if given the choice. I have since researched assisted death and will definitely be considering it. I'm truly sorry for your sorrow. There's many like us out there. I can imagine your mother would not want you to waste your remaining life mourning her so much that your life is miserable. Your grief is your process. Everyday we can only do our best. Perhaps we all meet on 'the other side'. In the meantime, honour your mother's memory as best as you can. I imagine your mother is very proud of you. I know I am 🙂

What legacy? What did she do for society? A cancer "wellness" center she asks random working class put to fund with donations? Instead of funding it from her multimillion dollar estate? The wealth she never truly earned? That legacy? She was a PERFORMER with a mediocre movie as her acting career's one hit wonder and a singing career that has done nothing for society. I bet you can't name a single Purple Heart recipient EVER yet you know every word to every song in Grease? Right? Few celebrities deserve reverence and more than passing mourning from strangers. John did NOT do anything to earn such praise and mourning. She wasn't Princess Diana. She wasn't Mr. Rogers. She wasn't Robin Williams. All of which were tirelessly empathetic and ALTRUISTIC public personalities. But, lazy and shallow people always conflate mere celebrity with value in society. After all, you don't have to do any legwork or make any effort to sit on a couch and stan a random celebrity from a MEDIOCRE musical that aged poorly. The only reason I say GOOD RIDDANCE os to combat the idiots that didn't even know this woman - acting like she was mother teresa. She was a shallow, plastic surgery plastered PERFORMER that did LITTLE to contribute or "give back" to society for her unearned wealth and privilege in life. Most of you are incapable of understanding altruistic duty and true empathy though. Hence the empty praise for an empty PERFORMER.

Something Better To Do, while not a huge hit...I've always enjoyed. She had some great duets and also sang back up on one of John Denver's songs, Fly Away. Her distinctive vocals were easily detected. She was such a pretty lady, and never played up her sexuality card. Always...fresh-scrubbed, never tawdry. As they say....her smile could light up a room. She was very likable and truly blessed. So sad to see her go. RIP

This is an incredibly tragic loss for the entertainment industry and for the world in general. Olivia Newton John was just a mythic star and a beautiful human being, almost angelic-like. She was a blessing to all of us. Grease is like an American past time, kinda like the way baseball is. That's saying a lot. There are some kids in their pre-teens who still actually watch this film, and it never gets old. Grease is the word! And my sister wanted to be Sandra Dee when we were growing up. Too much! Olivia also played opposite John Travolta in "Two of a Kind." My mouth dropped when I found out she died today. It almost feels like my own family member died today, and I mean that. She will be sorely missed. Hopefully this will bring more awareness to such a sensitive issue such as breast cancer. RIP Olivia Newton John, We are all hopelessly devoted to you! 🌹
