If you were a teen in the 70's, you grew up with Olivia Newton John. If you were a young boy, you fell in love with her. She had beauty, talent, and a genuinely nice personality. The planet lost a great person, Heaven gained an angel. Thanks for all of "Those Summer nights" and other memories Olivia. Rest in peace!

I wasn't too far behind you as a little girl in the early 80s. I loved Olivia Newton John. My brother and I watched Grease a million times and I used to sing along to her Xanadu soundtrack and Physical. She was such a huge part of my childhood and I'm really sad to hear that she's gone. But they always say '"passed away peacefully". Well I know fellow patients of Mum that weren't so 'lucky', crying out in pain. My mum died in my arms in 1999, a shadow of the strong midwife she was, just staring at me, until she passed away. People say 'the last breath' - It is real, but not like in the movies.. The last breath was exhaled after she died, a guess a minute later. Shocking. The only consolation I have is that she stared at me, and a few hours earlier I was the only person she accepted that offered her a cola, by straw. How she even accepted me as the only person she would accept any liquid food from in her last hours has been a mystery to me. Maybe it was just my voice, my smell, or maybe it was nothing. I don't know, but I'm still heartbroken by this event. The person that put me on the world died. I couldn't grasp it then and can't grasp it now.. 😢😢

@@janverboven My sentiments exactly. For some lucky souls their departure from this realm is indeed peaceful but for others definitely not. Like, you, I'm forever 'affected' by being bedside to my dutch/Indonesian father, along with rest of our family. The healing is ongoing and will likely never be done. I know for sure, how I don't want to die, if given the choice. I have since researched assisted death and will definitely be considering it. I'm truly sorry for your sorrow. There's many like us out there. I can imagine your mother would not want you to waste your remaining life mourning her so much that your life is miserable. Your grief is your process. Everyday we can only do our best. Perhaps we all meet on 'the other side'. In the meantime, honour your mother's memory as best as you can. I imagine your mother is very proud of you. I know I am 🙂

I am a 52 year old Australian. Olivia represents pure beauty, innocence, kindness and genuineness of soul and spirit rarely found. I feel so proud that she represents the very best of the Australian way on the international stage. I feel like a bright light in this world has been unexpectedly extinguished. I did not know Olivia, but I feel very saddened by this like so many. I just sat my 18 and 21 year old kids down to watch the tributes to Olivia so they at least understand what an iconic Australian she is and that her strength, spirit, positivity and humility is to be forever considered exemplary. @@nancydemoss608 diseases classify as natural causes when it comes to death. Unnatural would have meant suicide or an accident, for instance. What legacy? What did she do for society? A cancer "wellness" center she asks random working class put to fund with donations? Instead of funding it from her multimillion dollar estate? The wealth she never truly earned? That legacy? She was a PERFORMER with a mediocre movie as her acting career's one hit wonder and a singing career that has done nothing for society. I bet you can't name a single Purple Heart recipient EVER yet you know every word to every song in Grease? Right? Few celebrities deserve reverence and more than passing mourning from strangers. John did NOT do anything to earn such praise and mourning. She wasn't Princess Diana. She wasn't Mr. Rogers. She wasn't Robin Williams. All of which were tirelessly empathetic and ALTRUISTIC public personalities. But, lazy and shallow people always conflate mere celebrity with value in society. After all, you don't have to do any legwork or make any effort to sit on a couch and stan a random celebrity from a MEDIOCRE musical that aged poorly. The only reason I say GOOD RIDDANCE os to combat the idiots that didn't even know this woman - acting like she was mother teresa. She was a shallow, plastic surgery plastered PERFORMER that did LITTLE to contribute or "give back" to society for her unearned wealth and privilege in life. Most of you are incapable of understanding altruistic duty and true empathy though. Hence the empty praise for an empty PERFORMER.

Even though we knew she was ailing for some time, it is still very saddening to know that we have lost her. She was such a cool and inspiring person, as I have known of her for five decades now and I watched her in that movie, 'Grease', and I always remember that very catchy song, 'Summer Nights', in fact, I hear in one of the supermarkets at time, playing in the background. Something Better To Do, while not a huge hit...I've always enjoyed. She had some great duets and also sang back up on one of John Denver's songs, Fly Away. Her distinctive vocals were easily detected. She was such a pretty lady, and never played up her sexuality card. Always...fresh-scrubbed, never tawdry. As they say....her smile could light up a room. My heart broke yesterday when my daughter told me that Olivia died. What a lovely soul. May she rest in peace and join the chorus in heaven. Many prayers to her husband, daughter, family and friends.

I keep tearing up everytime they talk about John Travolta's tribute to her, as I know how much he loved her. Best friends for over 40 years and she was such a Lady. Poor John has endured so much heartache, he will be devastated by this news. Rest in peace beautiful Lady and Thanks for the memories. 🎶 🇦🇺 💔

'TELL ME ABOUT IT, STUD' ...who will ever forget that glow-up?? Grease will always be one of my all-time favorite movies, and she's a big part of those summer nights!! Olivia has given us great music with amazing beauty, style, and class. RIP ANGEL 💕💕

This is an incredibly tragic loss for the entertainment industry and for the world in general. Olivia Newton John was just a mythic star and a beautiful human being, almost angelic-like. She was a blessing to all of us. Grease is like an American past time, kinda like the way baseball is. That's saying a lot. There are some kids in their pre-teens who still actually watch this film, and it never gets old. Grease is the word! And my sister wanted to be Sandra Dee when we were growing up. Too much! Olivia also played opposite John Travolta in "Two of a Kind." My mouth dropped when I found out she died today. It almost feels like my own family member died today, and I mean that. She will be sorely missed. Hopefully this will bring more awareness to such a sensitive issue such as breast cancer. RIP Olivia Newton John, We are all hopelessly devoted to you! 🌹

@@lesliekupchanko5001 Of course we do! I even went to her concert at the Garden State Art Center in 1981. I just wish I could have gotten a better seat so I could see her up close.

I am so shocked and terribly saddened to know we lost Olivia Newton-John today. She has been my favorite female artist since she first became popular in the US. She had the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard, it was like crystal. I got to see her in concert on her Physical tour and it left a life long impression on me. Thank you Olivia for decades of your amazing music. You will always be my favorite! God bless you and your family always! Love you Olivia! 💖

I grew up in the 1970's and it seems just like yesterday "Let Me Be There" was playing non-stop on the radio. I've always loved Olivia and I'll always remember her for her music, her beauty and the way she carried herself. So down-to-earth, always smiling. This is truly a sad, sad day. My heart is hurting. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and to all those who love her.

Me too! ‘Radio’…Do teens even know what it was like? Calling in your request, awesome DJ’s, and the BEST music years of my life! Teens in the 70’s really got to taste many genres thru radio…Online music is great, but can’t beat a string of cars on St. Augustine beach all tuned to the same station… Lily🦋

She got my friend and me through Law School, as we would take a break and listen to her records to relax. I met her twice, and she was absolutely beautiful in both her looks and her sweet attitude. God Bless her because she fought it for so long, and still gave so much of herself to others. Few will ever match this "Angel's" Beauty and love for all.

God bless Olivia, she will be missed. I was a teen in the 70s and remember Olivia's music very well, I still listen to it. I saw Grease when I was 18 with a group of friends and it was a blast. I am a retired oncology nurse, so I understand some of Olivia's battle and have seen in her and so many other cancer patients how it changes people's perspective of what is important and what is not. Sing with the angels Olivia.

Olivia Newton-John was an absolute treasure and icon. She was beautiful, personable, graceful and a “Lady “. She gifted the world for decades, with her beautiful voice and talents. The world has lost a very beautiful soul and individual. Her legacy will forever be present. My heart goes out to Olivias Family and Loved ones. May the coming days be gentle and kind as you begin your journey of mourning of her passing. RIP beautiful soul ♥️
