My aunt had breast cancer in the 1960’s and her Dr wanted her to have a PARTIAL mastectomy and she said no, and had the whole breast removed along with the lymph node. She lived to be 87 and died in the early 2000s. 👍🏻 and she did not die from cancer.

I had a 4cms lumpectomy in 1997 with a false negative fine needle biopsy. (The needle had drawn cells from the 25% that had no cancer. This is why my surgeon had recommended removal of the lump irrespective of the pathology. He’d seen results like mine too many times before.) One more cm plus lymph nodes were then removed. All came back clear. I’ve not had a recurrence and mine was grade 3, the most aggressive. I had radiation as well as the statistics for it along with a lumpectomy were the same as a mastectomy. I also retired from my stressful airport job with constant shiftwork and disrupted melatonin levels from it. Melatonin is known to be a sentinel for detecting rogue cells and signalling to our immune system’s natural killer cells to destroy those cancer cells. Shift work can lessen that protective effect. We had a significant no. of airport staff who developed estrogen-driven cancers like breast. ovarian, uterine and prostate during my 10 years there. I once met Olivia at Sydney Airport and she congratulated my results by shaking my hand and we were both so grateful. I’m really feeling her loss due to that private moment when we were alone with no one else around. We were simply human beings who’d shared the same experience. I told her the saying that I used to say to all the hospital patients who I’d been matched with by the Cancer Council - “We’ve become members of an invisible club we never asked to join”. RIP Olivia. 🙏

To @ JJ Sizemore, I also had strong feelings of sadness, on hearing that she had passed away. I heard the music "Love Song" one day in 1974 and I quite loved the fingerstyle guitar technique, that accompanied ONJ's singing. Although I didn't follow ONJ's, somehow I knew she had a consistent, good singing voice ❤️. I don't know why but when I read about "Sandy's" demise, I cried.

I think, she was reminding the world how to love even when times were tough and uncertain. Maybe with another Angel, Olivia's passing the world will finally remember that love is better then hate in ALL shapes, sizes and formats. Thank you Olivia, you were truly a light in an ever darkening world and remembering your inspiration and the way you lived your life, has reminded me that we are so much more when remember what real love is and that it isn't for sale in any way shape or form and it can't be bought no matter how much we try too. Your legacy to the world isn't your Cancer foundation (though it is certainly a gift to all), but instead, it's a reminder of how to be human, how to love, how to live, how to laugh and how to let go. in spite of the terrible pain I can only guess she was in at that point till the end that gorgeous smile never left her face and she still lit the room when she was in it last time I saw her on tv she was laughing and talking about old costumes and clothes and trying some on they fit and she stil toked as gorgeous as always Sandy will live forever rest Olivia I feel terrible for Chloe losing her mother at any age is just not fair not to Cancer especially but you were close so that will remain she will always be close to you

@@aprilgosa5779 my grandmother had pancreatic cancer. She chose to die with dignity, she fought as long as she could but towards the end she deteriorated quickly. She was lucky enough to live in a country that allows someone to die with dignity through lethal injection. Olivia this time around decided to have quality of life over quantity. My heart aches for Chloe, but it also aches for her husband who was by her side in her last moments. He saw her at her most vulnerable moment and still didn't let her go. It is one of the hardest things to watch someone you truly love leave this Earth.

A few days before she died I was telling my mother how she has always been my favorite singer and favorite actress. Her album that came out in the late seventies early eighties that just said Olivia I must have played that album over and over again a million times. You say it as though it’s a fact that she’s in the arms of Jesus. While I certainly hope that she came to faith in the shed blood of Christ for salvation before she died, I’ve only heard her profess beliefs other than Christ Jesus as her Savior; New Age type beliefs of “love and light and all religions are valid”. The truth is, God has made it very clear that we must be born of His Spirit, through believing on Christ’s finished work ALONE, to receive everlasting life in His Kingdom. Saying those who’ve passed are now in the arms of Jesus because they were so good and loving while on earth is a lie. Believing on His redemptive sacrifice and Receiving Christ as our Savior is what gives us the Spiritual birth, which is the ONLY way to heaven.

Her niece has spoken I guess you could say on Australian TV & alluded to a cause of death without saying the words & that is their business, not ours. But as I watched her do the interview, all strong & stoic I was on the verge of a full breakdown crying attack once again. The tears were flowing, the nose was running. But I lost it totally when her niece broke down, my tears were for her, her uncle, her family, all the friends left behind & yes for me because I knew a bit of my heart died yesterday. I grew up in the Olivia era, I loved all her music, her collabs, her new music as she got older. She had such a rare talent, I dont know if it will be seen again. With all that she did in life, the next life is likely to be a very good one for her. She did come from very good stock (top German scientists). Someone told me once it's quite rare for someone to be very physically attractive but have a great heart and soul at the same time. You see that in her. As a new employer in a HS, l I heard an announcement that a former teacher had died. Another teacher told me she had fought breast cancer for 11 years. I noticed her own breasts were small and sort of squarish. Anyway, later she confided she's had breast cancer and rather than a partial mastectomy or lumpdectomy, she had no plans to fight cancer for decades. She had the removed and a reconstruction. I told myself Ì would do the same. However, mine was so small and literally stage 0, I did go for lumpdectomy and radiation.

she said her dream was to find a kinder way to treat cancer. i agree, as my mom suffered badly from the chemo, radiation and then the awful pills that cut off all of your hormones and make you crazy and your bones brittle, etc. so, when i got breast cancer (i knew it was coming, i was lumpy from a young age) i had the successful and clean removal, keeping my breast, just a scar showing, and didnt need chemo since, now days, they can test it more detailed than before, it was slow and didnt spread… but as protocal, they wanted to put me on weeks of radiation but after hours, days and weeks of research, i found out that doesnt help, not in this case and causes a lot of damamge.. and i opted to not take the same old 1970’s hormone blocker. so far i am 5 years out come oct. but going back to what she said… there is a way more kinder and gentler treatment and more permanent, called immunotherapy. so, no matter what type of cancer you have, push to get that vs the olden days horrible torcher treatments. i hope this reaches someone that can advocate from themself vs what the dr wants you to do so they can make money on you. let the immuno people make the money as they deserve it.
