@@pritidolui6826 ofc age matters. when it comes to singing, it indeed makes a huge difference. as teens, our vocal chords are still developing and changing, and also our lungs usually aren't as big as it can get. Not to mention your tone isn't wide and mature enough which can (and normally does) implicated in some degree of that restricted childish tonality, some weak or restricted notes, and less range and/or less control of wtv range you have. and, of course, there's the simple matter of time to have practiced the craft. singing with a proper technique takes many years even decades of training, and the vast majority of people, by their teens, is still yet to develop their appropriate style, to control their musicality and to dominate the best technique for themselves. So they don't sound as great. See Beyoncé - one of the best pop vocalist of all time and greater technical vocalist of her generation by far - as a 18yo singer. you'll notice a LOT of problems that can be attributed to her (absolutely normal and understanble) artistic immaturity, even though she was already really good. Olivia is the BEST teenager pop vocalist I have ever heard in my live. of course there are exceptions, Olivia is clearly one of them. But, she's still has a LOT to grow and improve. I didn't mean that as a derogatory to teenagers, but as a observation as how incredible she already is despite her lesser time developing her singing skills. =)

Taylor's influence was evident. I'm a long fan of Taylor and i envy Olivia for having her way of telling stories like Taylor. They are different. Taylor used unfamiliar words or almost never heard words while Olivia has this modern world lyrics but the way she tells it is kinda amazing for me. "In between the chorus and the verse." You might think qt first that it is predictable but you'll be surprise how she can stitch those lyrics without sounding cringey. (Like me. Lol) I like her.

I certainly agree that I see influences of Taylor in Olivia's songs. Deja vu actually reminds me somewhat of Cruel Summer, especially at 2:58 and 3:07 which are very similar in style to parts of Cruel Summer (e.g. 1:59 of the official audio) as well as the melisma for "you" in Deja Vu and "cruel" in Cruel Summer. Taylor does use less common words, especially in her later albums, but I wouldn't call them "almost never heard", well except maybe for "ingenue" in Nothing New, which was the only word I had to look up in the dictionary. Other words like "calamitous" and "insurmountable" in The Lakes I guess might be a challenge for some people who aren't that used to English. Taylor is after all much older than Olivia and it's not surprising that Taylor's simpler lyrics from early albums have become more sophisticated with the passage of time. Maybe that will even happen for Olivia but only time will tell.
