Here comes some unsolicited advice: do what is right for you and your family.

ive been getting so much of the unsolicited advice, the worse was when a friend of mine told me "you know i dont think you should take the epidural, whatever goes into your system goes to baby!" This was coming from someone who smoked cigarettes throughout her pregnancy..... another was when someone learned im open to the pain medications and she told me to "stop being so scared and woman up"..... the audacity of some people....
@brie46235 жыл бұрын
Ew. I can't believe the audacity of people. Its worst when it comes from people who have no children. It's like why don't you have a seat and have a tall glass found your business.
@brie46235 жыл бұрын
Ew. I cannot stand that. What's worse is people who do not have children or have been pregnant that have these opinions because their sister in law did xyz while they were pregnant 😒
@carson5515 жыл бұрын
kaylee P. It doesn’t end. It is something I think every parent has to deal with. It starts when you get pregnant then continues until your dead. I get it with my son. At some point I just started to realize these people were not perfect parents but always want to tell me how to raise my son. There are no perfect parents and we all try the best we can. It is my call how I raise my son. I just smile and nod when I get advice and I take it or leave it. It only bugs me when it comes across as a demand instead of advice. Unless you are my husband, that is unacceptable.
@audreymcnew77755 жыл бұрын
How I dealt with people telling me not to get a epidural was to say something like "this is what is best for me and my family, please feel free to make a different decision for your family"... But I probably wasn't that nice.

One thing that was a lifesaver was the Hakaa when my milk first came in. You just put it on the opposite side you’re feeding on and it catches all the letdown. I would get 2-3 ounces.

There is so much emphasis now more than ever on gender especially with gender reveal parties (I loved your low key gender reveal) that I think people really do forget what is important, a healthy baby. I think there's a lot of assumptions on who your baby will be or what type of relationship you will have with them based on gender, it really comes down to personality and not gender. Your natural beachy waves look awesome 💙

I have a couple things that I've decided to do differently with my third pregnancy versus the first two. One of the main things (I understand that this is not a reality for everyone and I feel very privileged to be able to do this) is I won't be going back to work for at least the first year and a half. Especially now that I have a third child on the way which means that I'm going to have more children than hands. I feel like it's going to be a lot to ask of myself, as well as those that are responsible for taking care of our children when we're both at work . I love working but I feel like I give my kids the leftovers after I get off work and I have dealt with people all day and I'm tired and I want to relax but I can't because I am now at my second job, which is to be a mom. I feel like I would be a better mom, a better wife, a better homemaker , a better teacher to my children if I am a stay at home mom at this early phase in their life. The second thing that I'm going to change is that I will not be pumping, and the main reason why I did before is because I was trying to get a stash together for when I returned to work, but I'm planning on being home for the duration of our breast-feeding, journey. I plan to exclusively breast-feed, and I'm really excited because I am one of those people who really struggles with pumping, and I mean absolutely hate it to be honest. It's probably my least favorite part of the early phases of my children's life because I feel like a appliance sometimes because you're breast-feeding and then you're pumping and then your're breast-feed again and it just makes you feel like some thing that's being used in the house especially with the cords and the electric outlet and the charging. I think for me it's just really triggering and contributes to ppd for some reason because it makes me feel less human. So I'm excited to focus on the bonding aspect of breast-feeding, and not so much on the survival and stock pile part of it.

It makes me sad that anyone commented anything negitive on your labor video... because it was beautiful... and you and all the hospital staff did a wonderful job. #3 - Life on KZbin I would imagine it's ALOT- you deserve privacy... never think that's not ok... #4 - Please keep up the content! You help all of us out here! 💕

Girl, it took an hour before I got to hold my baby after I delivered even though I had included in my birth plan that I wanted him placed on me immediately. I had no concept of time and I’m still beating myself up over that, even though it was completely out of my control. I’m thankful you showed a true depiction of what labor is like, and I can’t imagine opening myself up to criticism for something so intimate and personal. I watched your videos all through my pregnancy and I took a lot of your recommendations! Thanks for being real!

Just watched your l&d video.. The first time I watched it was when I was pregnant. Now, I cry so hard watching it because yours was what I thought I was going to have. Instead it was completely opposite and needless to say I never got that skin to skin contact till he was two days old. They put him on you at a perfect time and I am glad you were able to experience your first time holding him as skin to skin contact

I followed along with your journey with Christian. You were one of the first mamas I found to follow during my pregnancy with my son who just turned a year old. I just want to say you were such a help to me with all the newness and emotions of motherhood. You helped me see the more realistic side and I never felt added pressure while watching your videos like I did while watching some other youtubers. You so honest and real and share the beautiful reality of parenthood so I just want to say thank you for being that voice. Thank you for being vulnerable with all of us and opening up. You were honestly such a help to me with my first baby and I’m so thankful for your channel ❤️

Next time I’m not having any expectations. My first pregnancy I was so set on being able to go into labor naturally, having a natural birth, doing skin to skin right away and having her in the room with us after birth, breastfeeding. Literally none of those things happened. We got induced which ended in a csection and then she ended up in nicu and we couldn’t breastfeed. And it killed me. But she’s happy and healthy and it’s fine. I made my life way more miserable than it needed to be.

Loved hearing your thoughts on family visits right after baby is born. Hubby and I are expecting our first in March, and we live far from both of our families as well. I’ve been so nervous about how to handle the flood of out of town visitors that will be staying with us once baby arrives. This was a great reminder to enjoy the love and support from our families while we can. Love your videos and your sweet family! Thanks for all you do!

@creativeliving30125 жыл бұрын
I agree with all the points you mentioned! I am not pregnant yet with baby #2 but my first pregnancy / delivery / postpartum experience was similar to yours and the postpartum depression was the biggest struggle I had to face... I kept it to myself for so long, this time around I want to have a babysitter to help me get some free time for myself sooner, I am one of these who want to do it all by myself but you get burnt! I want to plan for visitors later in the year like from 6 to 9 months in, when you are sick and tired of being alone all day LOL. One thing to consider is learn CBT tools beforehand so when you're about to hit the wall you can use some tools and avoid the crash... It worked with me the last couple months

Olivia, you helped me SO much during my first pregnancy and everything involved. I also just checked in to see how you make your baby food. I have a very spunky or "bubbly" personality as people tend to call it. It's hard to push the comments people write out of my head. When you referenced your share of dramatic and ridiculous comments on your L&D video it makes me feel so sad for them. Some people have nothing nice to say, I could never have thick enough skin to do what you do, let alone do it so well! I wish YT could be full of positivity and lifting one another up, but it seems it'll only go further the other way of the spectrum. We didn't tell anyone what her name was until she came out. Only 2 family members knew and it was SUPER hard to keep it off FB, next time around it'll be just hubby and I knowing. Tons of people tried to talk us out of her name, but we made it up at 10 weeks and that was always her name! Our little girl is 6 months old and your channel has been a true Godsend. We will be raising her in loving light, positivity, and warmth towards all creatures on Earth. I hope a lot of new moms will do the same to do what we can in spreading love instead of hate❤

I had my first baby 11 years ago and am due now with my second. Your videos have helped me so much with getting back into baby mom mode. The things I wanted to do differently this time were to make more memories of my pregnancy and his infancy, since I was younger and in a worse place financially and a poor relationship the first time I feel like I didn't save anything, photos or videos, and all my memories are unpleasant due to the hardships. I am also trying breastfeeding and cloth diapering this time around. And taking a full 12 weeks of maternity leave. Last time I had just started the semester in college and was in class 3 days after birth because a professor said if I fell behind I'd never catch up.

I'm a first time mom and i was so nervous about milk supply because all i was hearing about breastfeeding was terror stories so i started stocking up early. I collected colostrum in the third trimester and started collecting milk as soon as it came in. I use the Haakaa on the oposite side when i feed and collect 3 to 4 oz per feeding. All my worries were for nothing, I make a ton of milk. I have extra colostrum in the deep freezer still and i have so much milk stored and my son is 7 weeks now. I only use my breast pump if my husband feeds him in the morning so I can catch a few extra hours of sleep but all of my milk was collected using the haakaa. I love that thing. Negative advice is not needed, good on you for taking it all with a grain of salt. Love your videos

This time, I'm gonna be better prepared for baby. Last year, baby girl was 3 weeks early & I was not prepared. This weekend, at 33 weeks, we had a scare with baby boy...we are now fully prepared for him to come at any moment :D however, he's in there holding steady, which is good. Also, got that bag so stocked with Depends...those were my life in my last postpartum time.

Me too on the milk saving!!! I'm also going to accept more help this time, especially since we'll have a toddler and a newborn. What you said about not showing names, is exactly why we don't share our babies' names until they are born! it's enough work to get two people to agree on a name, without everyone else putting in their two cents.

Loved the video! I’m pregnant with my second, and I’m planning on only having our parents come visit while we are still in the hospital. I was so overwhelmed with guests during the day, then the baby was awake all night. Also I totally agree, the 6 week point was so hard for us. That’s when we took her to my family (9 hours away) for the first time, and it was rough. One other thing- she was 2 weeks old at thanksgiving, and we spent a whole day at my in laws, which I regret big time. We should have gone for a couple of hours instead.

@ 12:19 : people need a new life perspective if they are making comments like that!! believe me, 90 seconds to ensure the baby is breathing and properly suctioned has no ill effect on bonding or attachment or health or any of that!! think of C-sections and how much longer that takes. People are choose to give themselves anxiety over the dumbest things. If that brings them terror, they need their priorities re-set. I honestly found that video so hopeful in what to expect, even in potential complications. You were so calm, your team was so supportive and on the ball, it was so reassuring and positive! I personally would love to see the 2nd labour video to see what you do and feel different. But it is your right to keep what you want prive and just for your little family too. Im excited for what ever you end up putting out. Let the helicopter parents hate, the need to spend more time on their happiness and less trolling new moms on youtube. seriously.

I love not telling the name! I did with my first, and my father in law and my dad both had negative comments about it. I think next time I’ll do the same.

Seriously your videos are so helpful, I'm 37 weeks. What is wrong with people judging your delivery like that?! Even if the doctor was "slow" (and that's probably not true) what would they have liked you or your husband to do about it? And what good does it do to point it out later? I get why you want to avoid that this time around but it's a shame, it was great to see everything for someone wanting to know what to expect.

I totally understand why you want to keep your second birth private! But I do want to say that your labor video helped me alot! I just had my daughter (first child) in august and I'm a big planner so I did allllll kinds of "studying" of everything pregnancy and labor related lol and your video was actually very helpful so thank you for sharing that! I cant wait to continue watching you through this pregnancy 💕

I loved this video! So happy for you and your family! I have a 10-month-old and I’m not pregnant now but have thought about what I might do differently with my second and I agree with these, especially the saving milk one and the baby names one.

Hi Olivia! I just found your channel a few months ago after having my baby and don’t think I’ve ever commented before. Just wanted to say I love your videos - they’ve been so helpful so thank you for making them! Congratulations on this next pregnancy and looking forward to following along! Xxx

I also totally agree about the first few weeks being way easier and the 6-7 week mark being when it gets trickier! Our bub was a pretty good sleeper those first 2 weeks but lately it’s gotten a lot harder! 💕💕💕

Be careful with the cups and make sure you stay dry! I would forget I had them on and milk would spill when I bent over and other times and I ended up with a yeast under my breasts, which then lead to thrush in my son's mouth. I didn't even know that was possible

1. your hair looks gorgeous 2. I'm sorry people felt the need to pick at your labour experience and be negative 3. a contingency plan put together by you, your dr & husband would definitely be a good idea just in case of ppd, but remember just because you have had it doesn't mean you will definitely have it again❤

Unsolicited Advice: Book an appointment with a therapist for about 6 weeks out before you give birth. This way you have the appt and you go without "needing to book one" after birth.

It's so crazy to me that people would make nasty comments about how "long" it took them to lay your son on you. I would never even think about that watching a video. I'm sorry that that happened. I love the idea of keeping that moment private to you and your husband. It sounds like a great idea, and you should do what feels right to you. 😁
