My heart breaks now as I listen to this wonderful instrument! I hope they will bring it back to it's full glory once again after the terrible fire in 2019. I can't wait to hear it reverberating throughout this majestic cathedral once more!

Merci Olivier pour l'exemplarité de votre jeu ! Ce mélange de technicité, de générosité, et de modernité, est sans doute ce qui se fait de mieux au 21ème siècle.

When I read "Grandes Orgues Notre-Dame-de-Paris" I was worried it was destroyed in 2019 but it survived the fire and is undergoing restoration.

Wonderful imvprovisation on "Old Hundredth" (English title) hymn tune by Louis Bourgeois, composed for the Protestant Geneva Psalter. Olivier Latry's improvisation is superb. The restored Clicquot/Cavaille-Coll organ is amazing, and the audio/visual experience is greatly enhanced by Vincent Hildebrandt's professional-calibre videography and audio recording. The actual hymn as sung here is also quite uplifting.

Just as the Church of England has a musical tradition of good choral music, France has a musical tradition of fine organ playing. As a result, there are many fine organists for many great instruments all around the country. There is a bit of Church triumphalism at work, but I think it can still be relevant in our times too.

How touching of you to believe so. ! May the "little child" in us all..... lead the way. May we all... Rise up and walk if we want to. !! And NOW..... be the wiser for it. Don't you think? Jan. 7, 2022 AD. USA CA LA. moi.

Wish I could have the opportunity to play this organ! I would probably hog the whole playing of this instrument for hours 😁🎹🎶🎼🎵

Not exactly the way the British play or sing the Old Hundredth. Still, it deserves the thumbs up that it has been given.

You weren’t quick enough! I saw foot pistons being used. They can also be preset on each manual.

Love the improvisation. My only problem with the hymn (whose melody is as familiar to me as my own breathing) is that the stanza and the refrain are identical, so it gets repetitious after a while.

A very beautiful improvisation on a very beautiful entry song. :) Somebody know the name of the entry song?
@Steff2929again8 жыл бұрын
In the English speaking world it’s commonly known as ”Old 100th”, as it is associated with the 100th Psalm, with lyrircs that begin ”All people that on earth do dwell”. The French title is "Vous tous qui la terre habitez". The tune is attributed to French composer Loys Bourgeois (early 1500’s)
