Dude, you *BIG-BRAINED* that fight without even realizing it. Normally, Dullahan's moves happen in a fixed sequence, but (and i didnt even know this until i looked it up *very* recently), when you seal his psynergy he swaps to a smaller, randomized moveset with fulminous edge, regular attacks, and a few other moves. This moveset EXCLUDES Djinn Storm, which puts all of your Djinn in recovery, and is usually game over. I can't BELIEVE that worked lmao

Its been years now but I had played the game before unlike the mainstay of my playthroughs, so it wasn't a blind one and is not labled as such (Dark Dawn was a first playthrough), so if I did fight it before in my original playthrough I may have simply remembered what to do. My memory tends to fire up as im doing the thing, not prior to doing the thing, it's highly possible I looked up a guide the first time I played through before being a let's player, that might have recommended the block, so don't give me too much credit! Also while I do tend to have a bad memory and therefore maybe struggle on other bosses randomly, if a boss has an absolute game changer of an ability that makes it memorable, the chance that I do remember massively goes up. I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure if thats what happened or if it was best practice learnt throughout the let's play itself, I definitely didn't know about the moveset change, though seems those in the comments may have their suspicions otherwise.

It looks like Oliz unwittingly abused a bug with this boss. While it's impossible to affect Dullahan with any status conditions (since he has greater than 40 luck), the djinn Luff and Rime seal psynergy without fail. Technically, this shouldn't disable any monster skills and Djinn Storm and Charon count as monster skills for him. However, when his psynergy is sealed his attacks are limited to Element Swap, normal attacks, Fulminous Edge (Formina Sage is a miss-translation) , and True Collide. It makes him significantly less dangerous. He should retry the boss without allowing himself to use those djinn for the full soul-shattering experience.

+Frans Elliott "...for the full soul-shattering experience." I have actually learned to defeat Dullahan without using Rime, Shade, Luff, Lull, Flash, Granite, Ground or Petra. :D Of course, I have an optimal class and equipment setup, with Felix being a Necromage with the ability to cast the 'Call Dullahan' Psynergy (learned at Level 47) while wielding the DarkSword ('Call Dullahan' takes into account the character's physical attack stat and Jupiter Power). All the other characters have excellent equipment, too. Isaac has the Sol Blade, while Piers and Garet have an Excalibur each. They all have Mithril equipment (forgeable from Mithril Silver) and Hyper Boots to drive the unleash/critical hit rate to 99% (except Garet - forgot to optimise him, but don't need to). The support-role characters - Ivan, Sheba, Jenna and Mia - all have rare weapons, but with equipment that boosts their agility and their Elemental Powers and Resistances, so their Summons are quite powerful. All party members are at Level 54 or higher and are not in their natural elemental classes.

@@emanuelpesquera4204 LOL Dullahan is pretty much a normal boss when his synergy is sealed. The only thing that sets him apart is his crazy high HP, high HP recovery, and the heal he has. It's the devastating Charon and Djinn Storm abilities that afford him the title "Super Boss". The rest of his kit is "meh". Just think about all of his moves: Reliable damage moves: - CHARON: Dullahan summons a death god to do INSANE Venus damage to your party. Even though this move certainly doesn't need help killing your adepts, it also has a chance to insta-kill any targets it hits (like Condemn). A deadly threat that usually you have to make preparations for if you intend to fight Dullahan "normally". My trick is to unleash Haze on my healer/reviver so they are guaranteed to survive. - Attack: With the right gear your adepts should be able to survive it, even at lower levels. It only targets a single adept, so it's not the end of the world. - Fulminous Edge: Take Dullahan's normal physical attack, multiply it by 2.8, and convert it to Jupiter damage. This is a deadly threat if it hits an adept with a smaller HP pool and weak Jupiter defense. However, it only targets a single adept, so it's not the end of the world given you have a way to revive heroes. - True Collide: Like HP Drain except multi-targeted and it does more damage. The damage is actually pretty lame. The heal it provides Dullahan is actually a bigger problem than the damage. It's not a threat to any party with an AOE heal. Other moves: - DJINN STORM: Dullahan raises the middle finger to whatever battle strategy you had in mind. If you were trying to summon-rush you basically have to reset the game at this point. Otherwise, this resets your adepts to their base classes, which means all your stats suddenly suck hard and you lose your AOE heals for many turns (since all the AOE heals are only available to higher-tier classes). Pretty much all of Dullahan's damaging moves for the next few turns are deadly threats to all of your adepts. If you are in anything besides your mono-elemental classes, this will play havoc with your classes as your Djinn recover. Basically, you CANNOT allow Dullahan to use this attack. Since Dullahan's attack pattern is known and can be manipulated, I would manipulate his attack pattern so that Djinn Storm will be his first move in a round, and use a Djinn like Ground during that turn to make him skip Djinn Storm. - Bind: Annoying, but not a big deal if you have restore/elixirs/salt/tonic. It's essentially a wasted move. - Break: Resets your buffs. Will decrease your party's DPS, but it's essentially a wasted move. - Condemn: Low chance to insta-kill one party member. If your party has high luck, chances of it working decreases. If a party member's luck is over 40, this move cannot affect them. It's essentially a wasted move, but a PITA if it succeeds. - Curse: A buff that insta-kills you after 7 turns. Dullahan will probably kill you in other ways before this goes off. It's essentially a wasted move. - Element Swap: This doesn't do anything except warn you Charon is 3 moves away. It's a wasted move. - Haunt: A debuff that causes you to take 1/4 of any damage you deal. This can be dangerous if you're summon-rushing because summons do damage based on a percentage of the target's HP, and Dullahan has the biggest HP pool of any boss in GS:TLA so that's A LOT of damage even after multiplied by 1/4. However, when you're not summon-rushing, it's nothing more than a nuisance, and that's only if it gets placed on one of your DPS adepts. When placed on your healer or buffer it's completely meaningless. It can be removed with salt/tonic (which you won't have if you're summon-rushing). It's essentially a wasted move unless you're summon-rushing. When Dullahan's psynergy is sealed, he stops running through his hard-coded move pattern and is limited to Attack, Fulminous Edge, True Collide, and Element Swap. Of those, only Fulminous Edge is actually dangerous. But since it's a single target ability you can deal with it as long as you have a tanky reviver (like a Paladin or a Chaos Lord). True Collide will be used more frequently, which will extend the battle. This is actually the real struggle with Dullahan. It's pretty easy to create a strategy withstand his assault, but he regenerates 200 HP each round + whatever he gets back from True Collide. You have to keep the pressure on him constantly otherwise he will start healing up alarmingly quickly. It's so frustrating when you've been pounding him for a half-hour, through some bad luck your party members go down and your DPS needs to handle some reviving duties for a few turns, and suddenly you see "Dullahan's HP has fully recovered!"

I do believe psyenergy seal actually blocks him from using djinn storm. I don't know that for sure but i don't think he used it but once on me when i was sealing his psyenergy every other turn. Also from the wiki i learned that his element swap skill does literally nothing. It is apparently supposed to warn you that he's about to summon charon a bunch

Yeah, Charon has a chance to OHKO any person it encounters...except for bosses, IIRC. But it works for enemies too, so that's helpful-ish. Also, Iris doesn't just do a global heal to your allies, it revives anyone who's KO'd too. It's a *little* op., since you can set it up so that your back party can just straight up revive your front party...which can be useful for the final boss. Less so for the battle arena, but...yeah.
@MasterGeek360
@MasterGeek360 3 жыл бұрын
Don't forget: Iris will heal and revive your reserve party as well. The heal works on all 8 of your party members. So ya it's really OP.

Dude, you got off SO LUCKY in that fight against Dullahan. Whenever I've fought him, he's used an ability called Djinn Storm, which puts ALL Djinn into Recovery Mode. I think he's used Djinn Well (a single-target version) on me too. Congrats! Also, Piers has a Djinni called Shade, which is AMAZING. That water barrier it puts up almost completely negates incoming damage for a single turn.

Mad Nimrod Put on top of that the fact that he grinded his way to Lv56, he would have been annihilated otherwise... But to be honest, just wait for the end boss, Djinn Storms and Cruel Ruins for DAYS ! I still remember getting my ass handed to me multiple times on that one the first time I faced him/them. ;)

Mathieu Couture I first faced Dullahan at level 60 and he STILL killed me repeatedly. The first few times he enver used Charon, just Djinn Storm and Formina Sage spam. The final boss was too easy for me even the first time around. Course, i also used Eclipse a lot against the final boss.

Mad Nimrod Yea, I think they expected most people to end Mars Lighthouse straight away the first time. So facing that mofo at level 40-45 might be why I got wrecked. Too low level to endure the Cruel Ruin spam with no Djinn and unoptimised gear. Of course, Oliz should be relatively fine then :P Btw, Dullahan not Djinn Storming is indeed ridiculous luck.

this is a fun game, but one should be able to defeat this boss at the level you reach him at which in my case is between 40 and 42. if you absolutely advise we get to level 56, can you do that at the battle arena? also that switching strategy was brilliant.
