*Some things I didn’t mention in the video:* Alumni Hall is apparently the most popular dorm among students. As a result, it is also known to be very competitive to get into (possible the most competitive). Also, the costs are even higher than I said in the video: it is now nearly $24,000 per year. Also, other than the HMart, there is also a coffee shop, bubble tea shop, Japanese mart, Shake Shack, etc, all in a one-minute walk.

if you applied for alumni as soon as the housing application opened would I have a good chance of getting into there?

Still blows my mind how expensive college and housing is in the U.S. In Sweden we even get paid to go to college/university. We also don’t have any shared dorms (at least that I know of?). If you live in a dorm situation you always have your own room. Most people live in apartments though🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes in the UK there are very few shared rooms. Our shared suites are probably for at least 6 people, some bigger.

yeah, but the US has (for far) the most top-ranked universities in the world, so it's natural that the tuition in those schools are very expensive
@Lulutica02

@@cristinaom9850 i disagree. it is totally up to the system and not the quality. for the US, a country with a more consumerist take on everything, that is an advantage, this market its absurdly profitable (from the tuitons to the "dorm room makeovers"). the downside is, it exlcudes the ones who cant afford it, leaving them with less chances of getting a better life quality in the future and most propably maintain the same way of living and income amount as theyre parents. countrys like UK, Denmark, etc etc prioritaze equality and quality of life for all. where I live (Brazil) the public schools are the best but very hard to get in, but at least we have that. in the US even community College stuff needs to get paid (it doesent make any sense to me tbh). So i dont think one thing is linked to the other at all...

NY anything doesn’t give a realistic standard for living. It changes state by state and school by school. For example in California you don’t (technically) have to pay for community college. Also for my college I lived in a 14ft by 21ft and I paid $3900 a semester and I got my own bathroom. All these people on KZbin that post videos go to most expensive schools or the bigger party schools. Which means that they have way more kids to worry about. If u go to a small school or even a medium size school. You will start to see how the college campuses do prioritize mental health and our education. Stop using a few video you have seen to bash the entire US college system. Their is about 5300 universities in the US to give u some perspective.

The rate is 5-6x more expensive than my condo unit beside our campus! I even have my own bathroom and kitchenette with fixtures. The condo has its own food court/cafeteria, cafe, gym, pool, study area, conference room, and parking spaces. NY is such an expensive city to live in. :( Great vid, btw! Thanks for sharing. I remembered the refrigerator from your series of quarantine vlogs! It's still alive!

This "things" that attach window to the frame in a way that it can't be opened more than few centimiters, thoose "guards" can be detached. You will probably need a little mirror to see where and how to take them off, but it can be done, sometimes even blindly. However don't forget put them back on, because you may not be able to close the window or you'll damage it.

$22,000 per year is roughly $1833 per month and there's no way to find a studio for that price in that location so I think the price is fair tbh

Yeah, but since I don’t live here all year round, the price is actually $3000 per month. Which I guess is around studio price.
