A lot of (former) models have bad self esteem because they are told over and over that they need to keep slimming down and are put to ridiculous expectations by agencies and fashon brands. They can look amazing and then still get turned away from a photoshoot if they gain even less than half a Kg.

Exactly. When it comes to beauty industry, the standards are really freaking high so they end up comparing themselves to "the best of the best" despite the fact that even the best of the best usually don't look as good as you see in photos. Female models try to be as slim as possible while male models abuse drugs to get that jacked body cutting away years of their life expectancy. Also genetics play a huge role. And they also tend to dehydrate themselves before the photoshoot.

So based on height and BMI her goal was to go from smack dab middle of healthy to well within underweight. Other friend of mine confirmed that it's pretty normal there. I don't live there, so that's all the insight I have, and it definitely culture shocked me.
