Great to hear your thoughts on the new board Olly. Out of interest, what paddle are you using in the video? Looks like a pretty small blade.

Heya. Using a paddle that’s eye brow height with 88 sq inch blade. I’m happy to up my cadence vs loading on a big blade. Only change I think I’ll make is up the length to head height.

Thanks for posting this review Olly. I'm seriously considering the 8'2 for ocean downwinding here in NSW, Auatralia. I've spent a year downwinding a 110L 8'2 Barracuda. I'm also comfortable on a 102L 7'10, 19 wide Barracuda. 75kg intermediate downwinder with a 9km ocean ace under my belt. From that info do you think i could manage the 8'2 at 16 3/4 wide? Its the width and drop in volume that have me worried... Thanks in advance if you have the time to answer 👍

To be safe, as downwinding is offshore and energetic resources are part of safe landing, I suggest taking a similar volume to what you are used to, same or a bit more. If reducing volume you will reduce your range as youll probably spend more energy on restarts. Narrowness is ok if the length is there too, but volume cannot be replaced by a different shape. Hope this helps
