Exos-3 definitely has its more optimal bass at higher volumes and possibly after switching the modes (couldn't tell if they actually switched though). Aiwa should make a firmware update to tweak the bass on lower and mid volumes, but in the meantime EQ boosted bass (higher levels for lowest frequency ranges) in apps like Spotify may compensate. At high/max volumes, the AIWA sounds better than the Anker but go lower and the Anker has better quality. The Teuful might be slightly above their league for comparison - clearly featuring larger subwoofers. A JBL Xtreme (or maybe JBL Charge) might be worth tossing into the mix. Overall excellent and highly enjoyable review, as usual!

Hi again Oluv! This was very interesting to listen to. Yeah, I agree there's hardly any bass on the Aiwa at lower volumes, although this certainly isn't the first time I've heard speakers do that. My minirig sub is a little like this, I don't hear it much at lower volume combined with my Minirig mini, but when I crank up the volume the sub is much more audable. The minirig mini already boosts bass for lower volumes though, so I guess the sub wouldn't really be neaded for those volumes. Maybe Aiwa can implement some DSP or something to boost bass for lower volume. When you made your first comment about the lack of bass at lower volume, I immediately thought "hey, try it at max volume and it will likely sound fuller!" because I've heard a few speakers that were like that. The Doss soundbox XL was a bit like this too if I remember, but with the Aiwa it seamed like you really had to crank it up to get some serious bass. with the Doss you didn't have to crank it up like crazy loud and you could still hear bass.

mohammed shan hey Kerala! I visited you in 2012 and loved you! Dali makes a great headphone io 4 and io 6, comfort is incredible, sound is the best for over ear bluetooth I have ever heard, something like 30 hours on a single charge as well, PSB is nice sound, not great design, not super streamlined, moondrop starfield is an excellent IEM for around 109usd, highly recommend that one, and the shozy 1.1, for 75usd, excellent, or the tin t-2 plus, also an Iem, around 50-60 usd, excellent, studio headphones, to be honest, the best I’ve heard is the Superlux 668 (I think that is the model) for 29usd. Here is what I am comparing these to: I have audio technica m40, Master and Dynamic (2 sets), Bowers and Wilkins (2 sets), Oppo planar dynamic, the PSB, and old onkyo, Sennheiser momentum, and Sennheiser hd25, v-moda crossfade, bang and olufsen b-7, for IEMS - ikko oh10, thieaudio legacy 3, moondrop starfields and spaceship, shozy 1.1, Samsung galaxy + buds, all those cheap cca and Kz ones, tin t2, tin t2 plus, urbanfun, trn v90 and ba5, I can’t remember the rest, but out of these, at least, the Dalis are head and shoulders above the rest for premium over ear headphones with bluetooth, they beat the others with or without cable, and the superlux for studio work, and I was always very partial to the PSBs for sound, though I would still choose the Dalis.

I think the speaker should be tuned properly first before doing a side by side comparison. That allows the full potential of the speaker to be heard. Otherwise we can't really do a fair assessment of the speaker. After all, the Anker SM+ was fully tuned by Oluv so the Aiwa Exos-3 deserves the same tuning effort. Btw Oluv, have you considered reviewing Huawei's Sound X, which was codeveloped by Devialet?
