Olympic A343 departs YUL on 24R

Olympic A340-300 departs Montreal's Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport on runway 24R bound for Athens. One of the first versions of the A340 series, the 300 variant is known for being underpowered. This very heavy aircraft uses almost 11,000 ft of runway and works hard to gain altitude once airborne. ATC communication has been included in the background.

Beautiful, Beautiful , Beautiful. It is so sad to see the 4 Olympic Airlines A340-300 aircrafts just parked at Athens International Airport. But we DO strongly support the new Olympic Air whose ground or air service cannot be compared with the old one. It is way superior!

Please add date taken, I was flying a lot as a CMD this month to/from YUL. I will appreciate this!.....Olympic had about 4.500 Personel when it ceased ops and I know well that we had not “boyfriends & girlfriends “ like most of the airlines globally , even today. I traveled 3 years ago as a “body pass”....

In order for Olympic to serve the Canadian market, they must serve both the Montreal & Toronto markets. It's a requirement that has been put in place with by the federal government. Olympic therefore flies daily Athens-Montreal-Toronto and then Toronto-Montreal-Athens.

because they were in deep shit. All that debt amassed from years of wasteful management and koubaroi,thies, paidia tou koubarou flying for free. That and having some 10,000 employees with such a tiny fleet.
