Looks like was a heart attack which no doubt was due to the body building. A trainer once said most body builders are all the brink of heart attacks due to no fat at all when we need a bit.

Great video and great interview. Poor Donna never even made the 400m semis, while Alan and Geoff came 8th and 6th respectively. Not sure if Alan visualised the scenario of finishing over 30m behind Ed Moses having foolishly tried to keep up with him. Lovely man though; he was a guest at my very first sportshall athletics meeting in 1983, where I was dead last. A girl at my primary school wrote to JIm'll Fix It in 1980, wanting to meet Mr Capes. She did, but it wasn't shown on TV. There was a poster of Donna in her bodybuilding days on the wall of my first ever gym. In those days she had a physique I aspired to have.

Geoff's shirt reminded me of the curtains at a local restaurant (back in 1976) Not that I'd ever have said that, although in jest, to a shot putter who worked with the Police in 1976. He seemed like a nice bloke, mind - just that I rather enjoy having both knee caps and all my teeth in good working order!
