Khalif and Lin are female victims in the event. IBA failed to show any evidence but statements to proof the two female players possess XY chromosomes. In a scientific research, measurements matter. The consistency and accuracy decide whether the measurement is suitable or not. Where, what and how did IBA examine the athletes are the keys to show public that their ‘claims’ are trustworthy. To disclose the measurements is not a privacy issue, but IBA kept them secret. Additionally, Khalif and Lin stated they were females. Lin even holds certification from qualified hospital. Why their statements cannot be accepted? It is so easy for such a big and powerful organisation to oppress and bully athletes from small countries like Khalif and Lin. All IBA needs to do is to ‘claim’ they are men. BTW, Lin’s appeal was rejected by IBA after her Bronze medal was withdrawn. When the journalists asked about Lin’s situation at the press conference IBA held, their answer was they respect China, and Taiwan, where Lin is from, belongs to China. Clearly, the whole thing is a political issue to IBA.

1. IBA did not test all players at the 2023 event. If IBA really wanted to protect "women", they should have tested all the players. There were 324 players, but only 4 players were tested. Maybe this part should be followed, or am I missing something? 2. IBA mentioned in its statement on its official website: "Point to note, the athletes did not undergo a testosterone examination". However during the press conference, IBA mentioned: " tests showed elevated levels of testosterone". Do you still believe what IBA has "said"? Any "documents" shown? 3. Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, many nations that boycotted the 2023 IBA tournament: Argentina, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, England, Scotland, Wales, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and United States. Chromosomes are imprinted on every single cell in the body! All 70 trillion of them! Males have XY and produce much more testosterone than the tiny amount women have. During development, particularly during puberty means a male the same weight as a female has more bone density, larger lungs, much more muscle mass, produce and use adrenaline much better and more than women. Males are much more aggressive and have significantly scientific proven advantages over a female, even of the same exact weights. It is not even remotely a fair comparison, a man can be smaller and weigh a lot less and still have more muscle density and physical advantages over a female.

It only says the boxers are disqualified according to point 4.2.1 of the IBA regulations, in effect at that time, that said: "IBA has the right to make a final decision regarding a Boxer’s eligibility." So, the reason is pretty much arbitrary and can be anything that fits the IBA needs.

Okay I hear you. But Imane Khelif has lost 9 times to female boxers before. If we picked a pro male boxer and a female boxer of the same weight category and put them in a ring I imagine the female boxer being brutalized in a way that would be very difficult to watch. That punch from Imane to the Italian boxer, if that punch had been a straight hit from a male pro boxer the Italian girl was not walking out of there the way she did. I think Imane has more testosterone than the typical woman but I don't know about her being a man in the same way that Floyd Mayweather is a man.

I'm from Algeria, and I'm against Imane competing against women, I studied biology and I worked in a laboratory that did DNA diagnostics, so, I know about DSD, they can be born female and grow up female, but when puberty hits them, they realize what's wrong, Testosterone levels will spike and their bone structure and muscle composition will forever be those of a man, they can take testosterone blockers, but that would make them go out of shape, and unable to compete in sports.

Correct, however, as a biologist you know, that estrogen and testosterone are in anyone man or women just the same. It is a matter of individual reaction towards the hormones during puberty. It is therefore still not that easy to judge from the outside. I do not think Khelif has utterly huge muscle compositions and structures. She also does not seem to have an out-of-the-average lung volume and gas-tank, which is common for a testosterone-based development. She has not been out-breathing her opponents so far. Though distant diagnoses are pretty scrappy, I'd suppose she has at least a partial androgen insensitivity syndrome.

Plus, the fights are not as unbalanced as most (prejudiced) critics claim. The Bulgarian fighter even tossed Khelif around in the ring, as far as I can remember. By the way check some women's Muay Thai fights. Look at the female boxers and check out their aggressiveness when fighting. Khelif would get a hiding even if the Thai boxers just used their fists.

She was misgendered by her doctor because her genitals were not fully developed at birth. Her testes were inside her body. As a result her parents raised her as a girl. None of this is her fault and we should have sympathy. However, she has had the advantage of male levels of testosterone her entire life and with through male puberty. During her teens Khelif, her doctor, her parents came to the understanding that she had been misgendered. At this point, Khelif had to make a several decision - continue to live life as a woman (which is how her parents raised her), live life as her actual gender (Male), get the required surgery to fix establish her gender BUT either way she should have made the decision to end her boxing career as a woman. Once she knew what she was then it was cheating from that point on.

The IOC should have (a) had all contestants in women’s boxing gender tested to confirm eligibility, or (b) conferred with the IBA in a spirit of sportsmanship to preserve the safety of all women. Having done neither, the IOC is muddying the waters and causing unnecessary angst. Khalif and Lin are female victims in the event. IBA failed to show any evidence but statements to proof the two female players possess XY chromosomes. In a scientific research, measurements matter. The consistency and accuracy decide whether the measurement is suitable or not. Where, what and how did IBA examine the athletes are the keys to show public that their ‘claims’ are trustworthy. To disclose the measurements is not a privacy issue, but IBA kept them secret. Additionally, Khalif and Lin stated they were females. Lin even holds certification from qualified hospital. Why their statements cannot be accepted? It is so easy for such a big and powerful organisation to oppress and bully athletes from small countries like Khalif and Lin. All IBA needs to do is to ‘claim’ they are men. BTW, Lin’s appeal was rejected by IBA after her Bronze medal was withdrawn. When the journalists asked about Lin’s situation at the press conference IBA held, their answer was they respect China, and Taiwan, where Lin is from, belongs to China. Clearly, the whole thing is a political issue to IBA.

They DID, and DO, gender tests. Look at Caster Semenya. Do we now test every athlete for chromosomes/hormones/internal or external anatomy? What does that then say about us as people? Higher testosterone, or estrogen, does not always cover an advantage. Otherwise, we'd have to test every athlete before they can fight in order to make sure their levels are close enough, or that their bodies have developed in similar ways. Should we also test for lactic acid producing? Height? Fast twitch muscle fibres? Wingspan? Lastly, is sport or competition fair? Sincerely, Green Unicorn.

I got a car and the Honda sales person asked me are you sure you want an SUV why not a small sedan or hatchback, were the same height she said. She asked me again if I was really the guy on the license because I'm supposed to be 5'4 and we're the same height. I got up and stood beside her. She barely reached my shoulder. For decades I've been using that wrong data and now all my ids have the wrong information and I couldn't do anything about it. Everytime I get medical tests or procedures I come out 5'11 but everytime I use public records like passport and government ids I'm 5'4. My take on this is IOC don't want tests because it would prove their incompetence in governing the Olympics. They allow cheaters to compete.

If their excuse is that they have medical conditions so they have XY chromosomes then they should be disallowed to compete with biological women and should either compete with men or in another league where all of them are intersex or having the same medical condition. Passport, birth certificate or the way you were raised are irrelevant to biology. Mike Tyson could have have a birth certificate showing he’s female, and raised as a female, have pictures dressed as female but the fact remains that biologically he’s a man. The main controversy is whether Lin Yu Ting has more strength or endurance than other female athletes? There are three main different standards to decide a person gender. One is reproductive organ, another is chromosomes, and the other is hormones. Lin Yu Ting definitely fit normal hormone standard which all athletes need to be examined by IOC. So she doesn’t have more endurance or strength than other female athletes. As a Taiwanese, I’m really proud that she won the gold medal 🥇. She is definitely legitimate to win this medal

The IBA is an international organization with 200+ member countries. To infer that gender testing occurred *because* a Russian boxer lost is defamatory. While the current IBA president is Russian, a previous president was Taiwanese. It is interesting to note that a Taiwanese boxer was also gender tested.
