The fact that shintato kept up in wrestling with an Olympic gold medalist is insane. It was just a friendly sparring match but still, that’s impressive. (Can you get Tatsuru Saito to do this?)

Shintaro was a former high school wrestler, worked with multiple Olympic athletes, himself competed in the Olympics becoming top 43rd in the world, has a BJJ in blackbelt with a height, reach and weight advantage. TF you talking about bro this isn’t a mismatch 😂 Imagine a top 50 free style wrestler with a height, reach AND weight advantage plus a bjj blackebelt plus some background with judo vs a judo gold medalist. Make more sense?

beautiful work on both sides, this is my issue with judo though, when a shorter skilled wrestler/ player goes up against a taller player they seem to have the advantage unless the taller player is able to get under the centre of gravity. Master Shintaro spent a lot of time hunched over trying to find opportunities while Higuchi had a clear path to various technique set up by having shin taro hunched over. Higuchi was the dominant predator. nevertheless great display of skill , I love Master Highashi and would love to train with him sometime when come to New York.

Yeah but we talking about 1% of the population, Olympic champion. This dies off the moment you aren't a 1%. The possibility of locking horns with Olympic champion because of a despute Is nigh on super unlikely. Also shintaro isnt an Olympic champion, let's add shohei ono into the game and it would be a very very different story.

he wasn't going full on him, because of the weight difference secondly, he is playing mostly by wrestling rules

Yeah, but the short guy is an Olympic gold medalist, and they are wrestling. The advantage is his insane skill and experience, not his short height. Being short is never an advantage… maybe in horse jockeying

I wouldn’t say he whooped Spencer Lee, it was a pretty close match. But with that said, Rei Higuchi is an Olympic gold medalist in Paris and a silver medalist in Rio so yeah he has been an absolute savage for a while now. 😂

50% of US wrestling ignores the upper body. Why dosn't the US capitalize on it? It's not because it sucks, cause Russians and Japan are great at it. It's because for the last twenty-year JB Power doubled his way through it and we all thought we could just be JB, because that is easy to teach, the power double. Upper body does not suck it's just tough to teach. And nobody teaches it! From highschool to college. Upper Body because of the new wrestling point system will have an explosion in wrestling techniques, much like BJJ did with Leg Locks. Shintaro this is how you get wrestling into Judo. The opportunity to make 7 points on a throw in wrestling for 3 on near fall and 4 on throw is well, opportunity. How to do this, you need to learn how to wrestle up and create the clinch. That means you need to match their level and wrestle up. Once up, it's all judo clinch work, square stances and throws. Been working on it with my son at college and showing promise, wondering if you could try it. Love Judo, but now is really the time to capitalize on it for highschoolers that want an edge. Plus, with leg attacks coming back in judo, judukas will need to learn how to wrestle up too.

Yes, hand fight is important in wrestling but when you grapple against someone bigger it's hard to hand fight because bigger people have long limbs that prevents you to get close or clinch to him. It's hard to hand fight someone bigger like in the vid. Shintaro is bigger than Rei. Rei couldn't even get a collar tie or underhook on Shintaro. Shintaro keeps using his long limbs to keep the distance . What's the best answer to this situation for Rei ? Shooting a single is the answer, you can mix it up so your opponent doesn't know your intention

When you grapple someone your size. It's easy to hand fight them. When it's bigger, it's harder
@blitzthekraken9832
@blitzthekraken9832 18 күн бұрын
@@counterkidnapping1737 I'm really not talking about weight classes, or this in particular what I am talking about is sport wrestling. In sport, USA does not teach any upper body throws. All attacks go to legs. Rei is find this position he is doing what he suppose too, but rei would have never gotten a single off, if shintar mathed Rei;s level on the shot. Rei got the single because Shintaro took a judo stance to play upper body. The question is how to get wrestles in that judo grapple stance. One stragety is to match the level of the wrestler and wrestle up. That means you stay as low as your oponent at all times to stuff or stop the shot and then wrestle up to the Judo stance. He drops you drop, he hunches you hunch, he crawls you crawl, until you, will be able to wrestle up, and now you get to play judo in the clinch.
